I think that's probably enough for the LD's, I can see Clegg selling it to the party as a precursor to more comprehensive voting reform perhaps?

Once people get used to voting for more than one person (assuming AV is voted for) then it's a much smaller step to shift towards STV/MMP than from FPTP direct.

There's no benefit whatsoever to the LDs agreeing to AV without a referendum - if they didn't believe reform was popular I don't believe they'd be pushing for it so strongly.

That said, if Labour offered a referendum on full STV/MMP then that could change things again.

It is, however, pretty funny, that the Tories now support 'fiddling the system' (their own words) against them.

Labour don't have the majority for full STV/MMP, even as the rainbow coalition, many in their party hate it.

Are they talking about AV or AV+?

Pretty sure it's nice and simple AV.
Really can't see the Conservatives going for AV+, as far as I know (and it's been a while since I've studied voting systems) there would be greater opportunity for coalitions.
I also doubt they'd go for a untested system.

That's one of the most horrific things I've ever seen. Adam Boulton is an absolute disgrace to his profession, just as Sky 'News' is a putrid excuse for a News Channel.

And Darling was a model of behaviour and control, who didn't provoke him, avoid the questions or insult him in any way...

If I may quote, Obama: "Cameron lacks vision."
Are you for real? Look at his approval rating. Seriously some people amaze me.

Yawn.

Darling? Did you watch the same video? Campbell did answer the questions, as much as could be expected for somebody of his position. He did so a lot more than his counterparts, and besides, he didn't act out of turn for somebody in his profession. Adam Boulton acted in an exceptionally immature way, not befitting of a school pupil, let alone a news channel with any sort of viewing figures.

Seriously?

Campbell is the disgrace..
Yes, seriously. Could you tell me what was disgraceful about Alistair, in that clip? I'm deeply curious. The question is even more pressing if you thought that Adam was anything short of contemptible in that clip.

I think AV would be interesting if they were able (I'm not sure if this happens already) to publish the breakdowns of the first place/second place votes.

It would make interesting reading for the LibDems particularly if it turned out that a decent proportion of their support 'second-voted' for the Tories and suchlike.

Precisely. I would go Con first then Lib Dem. I suspect a lot of people would do the opposite.

Other than him forcing words into someones mouth. Which is, incidentally, slanderous/defamatory.
There's a difference between forcing words into someone's mouth, and making a reasoned assumption of someone's beliefs from how they've acted, and what they've said. Have you ever seen Alistair speak to any other news reporter, or journalist (I use the term VERY loosely) in that manner?

The thing about AV is (as far as I'm aware) you have to rank x amount (usually 3), or even all candidates (Australia?)

I could not do this morally. I couldn't give anyone a vote if I didn't like their policies. For instance, a constituency where Tory,Lab and BNP are running (EXAMPLE), would mean putting a 3 next to BNP. ???

You can rank as many or as little as you want.
If there were 3 candidates, and you only ranked two it would NOT be assumed that the unranked was your third. It would just mean they did not have a vote at all.

Will that be the case here? I really would bullet vote.

e.g.
To prevent exhausted ballots, some IRV systems require or request that voters give a complete ordering of all of the candidates in an election – if a voter does not rank all candidates her ballot may be considered spoilt. In Australia this variant is known as 'full preferential voting'

Either way, expect bloc voting pacts forming:
