*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

I'm thinking of getting this phone. Moving from my iPhone 3G 8GB. I'm just uncertain about the App business on this. Apples Appstore has everything I want, but does the Microsoft one also? I'm not heavily into mobile games, just the social browsing, gps, and train, fitness information apps.

I'm just waiting for the new iPhone information, if I'm not interested then this is on my purchase list.

As long as its not games you're after then the Android market is fine.

The games are getting better every week, but still behind the iPhone apps.

However the social / navigation / fitness are (IMO of course) better as they can run in the background and you carry on useing the phone.

For example i can start sportypal on the phone, and put it in my backpack and start my outing on the MTB, with my music playing. If i get an phone call / email / text etc i can read / reply / answer without the sportypal app stopping and ending my session.

I could never do that on the iPhone.

@Vita Microsoft doesn't come into it .... the Desire isn't running any form of Windows.

To people who already have the phone; how are you finding it at picking up a phone signal? Playing with mine today and it seems quite a bit worse than my old Nokia N82 and my work Nokia E52 at getting an Orange signal (in the same locations). It works but it's showing as having less signal than the other phones and sometimes data access fails.

Right thanks. This is a noobish question now, does this phone have a decent music player. I like the music player on the iPhone and was wondering if it's as good, or better then that?

Also, like on the iPhone when a SMS is received it has the little pop up displaying the message and who it's from, does the desire have this function also? That's all guys. Thanks for the replies in advance.

The popup can be enabled by using an alternative SMS client (another beauty of Android!)

The music player - i installed MixZing and it is good and very easy to use, but there are many alternatives - so there is bound to be one that suits the way you want it to work. If you want the ipod style interface you can even install bTunes which is virtually identical

Just what I was after! Cheers, will have to see what Apple bring out. Thanks for the help.

There's a thread about USB charging over on AndroidForums. A lot of people have found that the GPS drains power faster than the handset can charge over USB, so even if you have it powered in the car, the battery will still run down.

It seems that it draws between 400-450mA on USB whilst, when using the supplied AC adapter, it pulls closer to 800mA. The unit is able to distinguish between USB and AC sources (it tells you which is in use in Settings) by virtue of the D+ and D- lines being shorted on dedicated USB power supplies which can supply at least 1A. Whilst pulling this extra power from a car lighter socket is obviously no issue, not all car adapters are rated up to 1A and even those that are, like the Belkin I have, don't short the data lines to let the unit know it can draw more power.

Must be the chargers people have then for the car as mine is seen as an AC power source in Battery Info, When docked to my PC it is showing a USB power source and when plugged in via the Logitech Performance MX charger (mains powered MicroUSB) it shows AC as well as the official charger as AC so certainly getting enough juice.

Unless the other reason is that the 12v sockets on those people's cars aren't giving enough power... I've certainly not had charging issues while navigating in the car.

Woo yeah got some goodies in the mail today \m/

Those look really good, I can't tell those from the official one (I'd go so far as to say they might actually be the official ones) I have on my Nexus in front of me. I think you have have to give us all the link once more :D

how do you make confrence call on desire? cant see a option to add.

found it :D

Just press Menu during a call then the top left button is to add another call. Once the 2nd call is on Menu > Merge.

I tried it however and it doesn't appear Vodafone support it on my tariff or it's a feature they need to auth perhaps? I get an error saying "Cannot conference".

The phone certainly has the ability.

Yeh i figured it out.

you need to get them to activate it, i tested it works

Kahn anyone else who has it, had any troubles with the holder falling off the window?

I've always shied away from suction cups as on motorway journeys my TomTom vibrates off the window :o

I don't use it on the window, I have a baseplate mounted on my dashboard and I attach the suction cup to that plate.

Link, just bought another actually just incase the seller stops selling them! And because my dad nabbed the my spare today!

kann

Can you post that wallpaper please?

Who is that person you speak of? It's all mine I tell you!

Okay ¬_¬

Garmin satnavs used to come with a stick on baseplate, that's what I'm using but mine is a bigger version bought off eBay.

something has been bugging me about andriod 2.2 and flash 10.1.....

every video you see google staff or adobe showing flash on nexus one but i went to some of these sites with my desire (andriod 2.1 and flash lite) and they work.

10.1 is meant to be like a desktop experience with GPU acceleration but so far from what i can see it looks like a an improved flash lite. Videos dont load their own full screen mode just a browser zoom......

pretty lame so far. same sites runs better on n900
