I'm thinking of getting this phone. Moving from my iPhone 3G 8GB. I'm just uncertain about the App business on this. Apples Appstore has everything I want, but does the Microsoft one also? I'm not heavily into mobile games, just the social browsing, gps, and train, fitness information apps.
I'm just waiting for the new iPhone information, if I'm not interested then this is on my purchase list.
As long as its not games you're after then the Android market is fine.
The games are getting better every week, but still behind the iPhone apps.
However the social / navigation / fitness are (IMO of course) better as they can run in the background and you carry on useing the phone.
For example i can start sportypal on the phone, and put it in my backpack and start my outing on the MTB, with my music playing. If i get an phone call / email / text etc i can read / reply / answer without the sportypal app stopping and ending my session.
I could never do that on the iPhone.
The popup can be enabled by using an alternative SMS client (another beauty of Android!)
The music player - i installed MixZing and it is good and very easy to use, but there are many alternatives - so there is bound to be one that suits the way you want it to work. If you want the ipod style interface you can even install bTunes which is virtually identical

There's a thread about USB charging over on AndroidForums. A lot of people have found that the GPS drains power faster than the handset can charge over USB, so even if you have it powered in the car, the battery will still run down.
It seems that it draws between 400-450mA on USB whilst, when using the supplied AC adapter, it pulls closer to 800mA. The unit is able to distinguish between USB and AC sources (it tells you which is in use in Settings) by virtue of the D+ and D- lines being shorted on dedicated USB power supplies which can supply at least 1A. Whilst pulling this extra power from a car lighter socket is obviously no issue, not all car adapters are rated up to 1A and even those that are, like the Belkin I have, don't short the data lines to let the unit know it can draw more power.
Woo yeah got some goodies in the mail today \m/

how do you make confrence call on desire? cant see a option to add.
found it![]()
Just press Menu during a call then the top left button is to add another call. Once the 2nd call is on Menu > Merge.
I tried it however and it doesn't appear Vodafone support it on my tariff or it's a feature they need to auth perhaps? I get an error saying "Cannot conference".
The phone certainly has the ability.
Those look really good, I can't tell those from the official one (I'd go so far as to say they might actually be the official ones) I have on my Nexus in front of me. I think you have have to give us all the link once more![]()

Can you post that wallpaper please?
I don't use it on the window, I have a baseplate mounted on my dashboard and I attach the suction cup to that plate.
