***The Official Forza Motorsport 3 Thread***

I think it's Forza 3 Not your 360 mate as I've been getting Total Lock up when I go Multi, 4 times in a row tuther day I had to reboot until I got into a Lobby.
Now my 360 is about 4 weeks old & is a 150w Jasper so I blame Forza 3 as Forza 2 used to lock up as well once you had a decent amount of cars.

As far as DLC goes I spent Three & a half Million yesterday on Cars & Mods. :D
Driving them Standard & then putting the right parts on & then tuning every car took Ages but there are a couple of right Gems amongst the DLC. ;)
It froze in the dashboard a few times aswell and once while booting to the dashboard after turning it on, i tried everything, removing all memory devices, disconnecting it from the net, still would freeze

In the end i unplugged it from the mains for 5 mins and its been fine since *touches wood*:D

Now to find a way to stop the MS Wheel clamp from sliding around on my desk while driving grrr.

I'm having trouble getting to grips with braking for corners, which is stopping me being competitive with the AI on hard. How should I be braking? If I have the braking line on, do I brake when I hit the red bit? Or when I hit the yellow bit? If I slam on, I'll lock up, so should I pump the brakes? Is there any merit in braking gently, which means you don't lock up but slowing down takes way longer?

Any advice appreciated...

Do you have any of the driving assists on? If you have ABS on then pumping the brakes shouldn't really be necessary, because unless you are going way too fast into corners the brakes shouldn't lock up. In terms of when to brake, it's really about finding a balance. You can try braking late, which gives you an opportunity to overtake other drivers if you are close to passing them, but can mean you are going into the corner too fast and don't get the right line on the way out. On the other hand, braking too early often results in either getting overtaken or getting shunted by the AI.

Its something that you get used to with practice and familiarising yourself with each corner of each track. My best lap times are on tracks I know inside out such as Motegi and Suzuka, where I know each corner on the track so know how much to brake. Just a case of practice really!

So, in what order do you tune? How do you make the car stop, turn in to corners properly etc?

Also what mods do you apply? On my Focus RS and Nissan GTR I have maxxed out both cars. Should I remove some mods?

Hope I make sense and I hope you can help.:)

First thing I do is drive them Bog standard & see where they lack, Some it's the handling some it's lack of power & some are just crap Period.

My driving style (very important)= I like a car to stop well & turn in well but I don't mind the back end being loose & I like to be able to monster the kerbs.

To acheive this I lower the brake pressure to around 75%, Soften the suspension a Tad, Lower the rear a tad & increase Camber a tad as well.
I reduce the Diff to around 40% on acceleration & reduce it to around 20% on decceleration.

Then I go driving & gradually tweak the gears to match the Important bends, There is Usually one maybe two bends that are Critical to a fast lap time & I tune my gears to them as well as the Longest straight.

I s'pose I could chuck up a few tunes for folk to try if there's interest.
I know my Tunes will go faster than I will as I am Old & tio slow these days. :(
I have got a few top 500 times sprinkled about thogh so I do ok for an old guy.

Been having another go with the wheel. Got to say it deffinatly improved my over all driving in game. I won a Seat Leon supra cup the other day and decided to try it out stock. Did about 10 laps of Laguna Seca and kept knocking time off every lap. Chuffed to bits with it.

Still not good enough with it whilst driving my GTR, I think its too powerful. I think practicing with lower power cars is what I need to do.

Could be the power delivery rather than the power. Racing turbos tend to come in with a thump which upsets the handling. Getting the power up in other ways eg a cam can give the same power with smoother delivery.

Yep N/A or Screwed superchargers seem to be the most linear power deliveries, where as turbo and centrifugal superchargers are bulk in a way.

I love high revving NA engines on here though, with the right amount of power you can leave most things behind pretty quickly

haha i did the funniest thing yesterday i decided to burn 200,000 on a honda civic 07 and tune it to an S class.. hilarious.
the gear ratios were well out of whack tho so had to really tune it to stop over revving but love doing stuff like this!

Hmm new DLC, I have all the dlc's so far but at 400 points each the game certainly starts to get expensive. Then again this one looks pretty decent.

I would love to see a pack containing some more old school motors like sierra cossies etc :p Thinking about it a couple of caterhams or westfields would be lovely too!
