*** The 2010 Gym Rats Thread ***

There was a study done to verify this. They took a load of gym rats and asked them to do some reps, one set whilst concentrating on the rep, and on another day, concentrating on something else, like pictures of hot women :p

They measured greater activity in the muscle when concentrating on it.

Concentrating on the reps or women?

But I'm sure they did a study to verify that if there are hot women around, the men push themselves a bit harder :p

Unless their gay, so if you see someone pushing themselves to the limit and no women are around, they fancy you.

Patiance;) you'll get there, no point in rushing things. Can you get someone to spot you when you bench as you could probably shift a little more weight, just an idea? Also where abouts on the bar are you gripping? Not being funny but the further away your hands are from one another the harder pressing will be.

The challenge doesnt let you have a spotter helping you. Hands are about shoulder level.
Im gonna do that challenge about every 3 months to see if ive improved.

I may be wrong but that sounds a little bit narrow to me, when I'm benchpressing my hands sit on the outside of the guiderings usually or if you don't have those as a guide my hands are normally about a couple of inches or so either side wider than my shoulders. However what feels comfortable to you is probably better than worrying too much about exactly where you are holding the bar.

When I did bench my little fingers would be on the outside of the rough area if that makes sense.

Powerlifting rules say your little finger can be anywhere inside the rings. Ofcourse this isnt powerlifting but thats about where I find it the most comfortable. Can depend on how big you are as well ofcourse.

Anyone going to the body power expo tomorrow or sunday, im going saturday should be a good day:)

I'l be there both days until 2-3 unless I fancy strolling round on my own and getting the train home later on as my mate whos driving has got work
