*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

That's only for vodafone Desires. If you manually download the file its riddled with vodafone software and wouldn't work when I tried to install it

The Vodafone phones are not "riddled with software".
Vodafone have done absolutely no customisation on the software at all.
The reason it won't run on other non-Vodafone Desire's is because it will only upgrade from 1.15.161.4, which again is a Vodafone specific release.

I'm assuming the other carriers will be releasing a firmware upgrade soon.

Please note this isn't to be confused witht he future Android 2.2 release, this is purely a firmware upgrade for the phone.

The Orange Desire is black around all rubberised parts but the bezel is still brown aluminium.

The All Black edition is not out yet but you won't be finding the all black battery cover anywhere any time soon :/

I think the "Brown" battery cover is the black one actually, it looks black on mine.

It probably means that it is meant to go with the brown bezel, or something daft.

Give it a bash.

The standard brown Desire has a brown cover with brown bezel.

The standard Orange Desire is black with a brown screen bezel.

The Black edition Desire is black with black bezel.

Ah yes well, I dont have something to compare it to :p

Try asking Orange, they might have some spares in if you need one urgently, if you are buying it because you dont like the Orange badge (who does?), you'll probably have to wait :(

Maybe your monitor colour calibration is out but the left one (standard Desire) is most certainly brown toned compared to the black toned Orange one on the right around all areas but the bezel.

Ah right. Looking at it more carefully, the 2nd picture of the back of the Desires, the bit around the battery cover does look slightly more darker on the Orange branded one.

Oh and the all Black Desires (Black bezel) are out. I have one.

Well after two weeks of general frustration I've returned it, just too used to my iphone which rather annoyingly i've sold! Time to wait for the 4g, thing is the desire is a gorgeous phone, just too many niggly annoyances that eventually put me off it.

Like what? The inability to tell everyone you've got an iPhone, which as I can see is the only real benefit of a phone so mind numbingly simple that it forces you into the application menu the second you unlock it? Presumably the average iphone user would be too scared by the concept of a homescreen.

What niggles did u have?

Nice flame bait. Although I couldn't go back to the iPhone after using a Desire, it's far too restrictive.

I much prefer the purple/brown Desire to the black ones, they just look bland and generic.

The niggles (whatever they may have been) could almost certainly have fixed them for any persons preference really. The modding community is huge and someone is always at hand when needed.
