Agreed. Of course if you're competing you'd need to train them to get some specific shape, but for size alone, I've managed decent size without doing much/any isolation work. So size is possible without isolation.
Exactly this.

Do you have a swimming pool nearby you can use, I know it's the obvious suggestion but it's low impact and a pretty good workout for cardio.
Does anybody have any ideas or is anyone able to recommend some other squat stands.
What's the maximum amount of books you're allowed out of your local library at once?
Gets coat..
Benny I read a thread somewhere about using builders trestles for squat stands. They are cheap, some are rated to 450kg and they are height adjustable. Just a thought if you wanted to keep costs low.
Hey,Shadow, how's your deadlifting going? Broke that 180 yet?
Also I really love your 180kg squat! If only we didn't have a smiths.
Managed to bust out a couple of sets of 80kg on the flat bench today, pretty chuffed with myself! Hopefully looking to increase that next week.
I was also told today that the leg press' max. weight on each side is 240kg which is a bit disappointing. That being said, I'm in no rush to go to my goal. I think I'd rather focus on getting squats and deads sorted anyway.
Hey,
In all honesty I've just gotten back into a routine of training and eating as of last week, the last 4 months at Uni were hectic. I haven't touched DL's other than the challenges. I'm working on a quite interesting routine atm and I'm hoping to break 200KG for the squat but in all honesty, I'm still not quite sure how I managed the 180, so my confidence is a bit shady!
How about yourself, how have you been getting on?![]()
Do you actually have the size (on your legs) to go with the amount of weight you are pushing-I suppose would be the real question? Maybe I am missing something but what is your bodyweight, height and body fat as well because your upper body lifts are so disproportionate to everything else I am left wondering what your body stats are?
Edit:The leg press shouldn't be the "be all" of your leg routine anyway.
There is nothing there to suggest you are a big lad by any means (no disrespect intended6'0, 95kg, BF I haven't got a clue on!
At anyrate Freefaller and the lads better watch out for us lightweights![]()
my 250kg DL by the end of the year, don't worry!![]()
That'll slow you two down a bit
!
Excellent! You really made the 180 look easy, definitely motivation for me!
Looking forward to getting back into DL'ing. I need to get some chalk as 170 is where my grip just gives in! I've been doing DB DL's super-setted with military press. Lets just say my tee was soaked in sweat today
How much are you weighing in at the moment?
Ah, death to smith machines! It it better than nothing though.
That's right beasties, watch out - the lil' kids are on the block![]()
I have to say that you guys are brilliant. Some really good work there. In terms of power to weight ratio - you walk all over me. I think in terms of raw power/strength I might still have the edge overall, but there's not really much in it anymore.
I really need to get that 600kg and I'll be a happy man!I'll get my 220kg squat and my 250kg DL by the end of the year, don't worry!

You guys should be really proud of your achievements - it's top class. It really is. I don't want to sound as though I'm being patronising or condescending at all by the way, I truly mean that, I genuinely believe you guys are good enough to compete for your weight class you certainly wouldn't come last.
I almost feel I should be asking you for help and guidance!
