*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Hang on a sec, my phone is just getting flashed to deFrost 0.9 so I can't check the menu! The very top item which is the clockwork one you list above I think? You need to run this as it installs the latest mod, you should then see the other menu items come available. There is then an SD card option further down, run this and browse to your ROM .zip file. It will then ask you if you want to backup your current ROM and if you want to WIPE, some ROMs need a WIPE some don't... Select which of these you need and then it's all automatic from there :) I once did have it fail to load a ROM but I just selected it again manually in recovery mode where it had stopped and all was well.

cheers mate its worked. im using defrost 0.9b now

is this the prefered method now. its so frickin easy. is fake flash interegrated or is this an entirely different method altogether

Hi guys

The last week we have had a lot of new comers, including myself, and it would be great if someone in the know could answer the following and give us a brief description of what to do.

Ok im rooted and have custom modaco rom, i have Titanim backup installed and ready to go,
Say for example i havt to change to Froyo or any other custom Rom what is the best method?

goto Titanium>backup/restor > menu > batch > Backup all user apps and data ??

Now is is best to put new rom on another sd card, flash then just put in the sd card titanium restored to, reinstall titanium then do a batch restore?

Edit
I also seem to still be on bootloader 0.75, is this an issue, should i update to 0.8?

Its all getting a bit too much for me!!! :D

Grrr.

buymobilephones.net say they're expecting a delivery of t-mobile desires tommorrow, so I ordered expecting them to send it then. But now I've got this e-mail..

Thanks for your order. You have passed our initial security check and your order is ready for processing however your HTC Desire is not in stock at the moment.

We expect it to be available again within 10-15 working days, so we are going to temporarily hold-off from processing your credit check until it is back in stock.

As soon as it arrives we will process your order, send you an email, and ship your phone for next-day delivery.

Kind regards

Customer Services

Not sure if thats automated, and they'll send it tommorrow when the stock arrives, or if that shipments all sold out and i'll have to wait, in which case its a bit annoying, as the website is still quoting 15th for stock..

Rock Player is a cool app that will allow DiVX/XVID/.mov etc playback flawlessly. Just tried out the BETA and will keep it on so my DVDrips and normal HDTV downloads can be watched without re-conversion.

h.264 720p files also play but at 5fps so not ideal. I guess they've not added Snapdragon hardware acceleration for h.264 yet.

Will have a look at that player, as I just got myself a Desire. (Jeez the idea of reading this thread is a bit intimidating, it's that long now) Is it a free app, or a paid one?
Btw, incase any one sees this, how hardy is the screen on these things? Worth getting a screen protector (and if so which are the best ones right now)

Thanks fella, Just ordered one today £285 with someone who has an o2 contract.

No hassle just a quick call "I want to buy a Desire... Ok £285 ? Deal!" :)

Upgrading from a SE W910i which is refusing to charge consistently, Fed up with the browsing experience too, Most of my time at work is spent browsing the internet.

Just took delivery of mine about an hour ago, Simply amazing bit of kit :D

Ordered saturday - arrived this morning, Excellent service from o2 !

I have had a mess around with it stock.... I want to start trying out other ROM's  My battery is just about done, Can i flash while it's on charge or, Should i give it a full charge first ? (How long to charge fully ?)

Nice, you won't regret it :)

As for cases etc, it depends, some people like having a bare phone, some use just a screen protector, and some use a screen protector and keep it in a leather pouch or something. Personally, I have a Martin Fields screen protector, which is pretty damn good, and a cheap gel case off the Bay, which cost about £2 :D it looks nice, and has already saved my phone (as I decided to drop it down the stairs )

Cheers man.

I think a gel case will do fine, Why the need for a screen protector ? It's solid glass and must be fairly hard to mark.

£2 bit of rubber saves £300+ phone :D

Ah my luck is amazing. Get my spangly new Desire today, leave it charging whilst I'm at work. Come home ready to play around with it, switch on, and what's the first thing I see.
Bright red stuck pixel in the middle of the screen >.<
Will be going straight back to CPW tomorrow to get it swapped.

Gah, seems to be buggy (according to forums)... Just tried it but when you click a channel, it logs you out

Just use m.tvcatchup.com

I watched some World Cup footie on HQ over 3G today and it was excellent... Loaded in about 30 secs and didnt falter once :)

I backed up my Sparta ROM with ROM Manager before trying Froyo, battery is still rubbish and a few other niggles remain so I don't want to use it properly yet.

Restored my Sparta via ROM Manager, everything is identical to just before I installed Froyo, very impressed with that, awesome backup solution there.

Playing around with Handcent and SMS popup but have a problem with the HTC msg in the way.

Using a debranded phone with stock ROM and after reading/replying to a message through handcent etc a message notification is still left under the 'swipe down to unlock' bar on the homescreen. I cannot get this to go away other than going into HTC msg app and viewing the message again, and pretty annoying considering I have already dealt with the msg through handcent.

ANy ideas, can't find an option to get this to **** off ! :)

Anyone got m.tvcatchup.com working via vodafone? works great over wifi but fails every time over 3g. Would be nice to watch a bit if footie at work lol.
