*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

If i sign up for a 12 month SIM only simplicity contract from 02 (with unlimited internet,) will that stay as such for the 12 months? Looks tempting if so at only £15 a month. Also £25 quid back from Quidco.

Or do you think this 500mb allowance thing will also kick in for this contract after October.

o2 said anyone in a contract still, will get what they originally signed up for it. Then customers will need a new contract so they'll switch them over to new tariff.

Was waiting to see what the other carriers were going to offer tarrif wise before bunging in a pre-order and its allready sold out ?

The 3 website still says register here for details not even released prices yet ??
hmm so does vodaphone and o2 etc

Remember this is only Apple that have sold out. o2, Orange, Vodafone will have their own stock, which they'll start to sell on the 24th.

I think the problem here is the total lack of communication from the networks.

I find it extremely hard to believe they don't know exactly what they're doing. If it's to artificially create impulse buys, it's pathetic.

Isnt only Apple that confirmed the 15th as the date to pre-order the new phone? The networks AFAIK havent stipulated a date or the fact they would allow pre-orders anyway

Now I've missed the boat with apple; any idea when networks will be starting to release details?

Which is fine, but they could very easily state what's going on. There is no way they don't know exactly when they will start either taking pre-orders, or if they're not going to be at all.

They're probably gagged by Apple, Apple probably want the exlcusivity of selling as many as possible through their stores, they love the media showing queues and queues of people outside their shops. O2 etc have no choice but to dance to Apples request.

I really dont think the networks are particular concerned about end users, a lost sale here will be a gained one elsewhere - its not like the iPhone at launch wont be in demand. Im afraid to say they are far more interested in competitor pricing than ensuring end users have piece of mind by securing their piece of tech...

Though with O2s tariff already being announced and 'actively' doing a daily email shot, I dont understand why they havent been first to show their hand - its all a bit the calm before the storm and feels very artificial...

Source?? I expect o2 and the other networks will follow suit. Crap. Ah well looks like i'll be looking for a PAYG phone from o2 instead then...

I'd also like to know where exactly where you heard this?

I personally did wonder about this, but aside form the iPhone & iPad is there anything else on the market yet using micro SIMs... I presume there are plenty of phones arriving soon which do if there aren't.

In which case, if you are a paying customer on a contract with a phone service provider, can they legally refuse to give you a micro-sim, if the phone you need to use requires one. Of course they could charge a fee for replacement, but straight up not allowing it seems wrong.

Please post the source of this info.

One of Orange's Business contracts Manager. I spoke to their CS first and then asked to speak to the manager as their CS was sending me around in circles.

Hmm, I'm wondering if the 16GB and 32GB 3GS resale value will increase slightly when the dust settles on the iPhone4 launch and people want a cheaper alternative to the newer phone but find 8GB too small.
