*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

do you have the direct link for that information as I'm struggling to find it. The O2 site just has a Q&A section which states 'How do I get a Micro Sim'

are you an 02 customer Yes or No

1. Buy your iPhone 4 from 02

erm, I have bought it direct from apple

If you're not already an o2 customer then this is the information you need...

Buy your new iPhone 4 from O2 (on sale from 24 June). You'll get a micro sim when you buy iPhone 4 in the shop, right on the spot.

If you order iPhone 4 through customer service (or online, when it's available), your micro sim will come with your iPhone 4.

If you have pre-ordered iPhone 4 directly from Apple you can get an O2 micro sim from any O2 shop. Simply go to an O2 shop any time from Monday 21 June and sign up for the Simplicity for iPhone tariff. Make sure you tell the shop that your tariff is for iPhone 4 and they'll set you up with a micro sim.

I'm probabaly gonna get it on Orange, but.... is 3's 3G network better than Oranges? Coverage and speed?

Also my friend has some HTC phone on Orange, he gets this H icon which apparently is HSPA (not quite sure what that is :p) but a quick Google suggests its basically 3.5G... does the 4 support this?

Three use Orange's 2G network.

Three have the best 3G coverage in the UK. They have recently agreed to share 3G networks with T-Mobile, so it should be even better.

For all O2 peeps who have pre-ordered through Apple:

If you have pre-ordered iPhone 4 directly from Apple you can get an O2 micro sim from any O2 shop. Simply go to an O2 shop any time from Monday 21 June and bring along your pre-order confirmation email from Apple. You'll need to show it in order to get your micro sim.

So looks like a trip to the O2 store for me :)

Good news :) I'll be popping into my o2 store Monday then :)

Keep your preorder with apple. You don't need to buy directly from o2. Just follow the info below or alternatively go into an o2 store and ask for a micro sim next week.

Register interest on o2's site select 'online' and select 'buying at launch' it will then bring up entry fields to enter your address so they can send you a micro sim (exactly when is anyones guess).

When you receive the micro sim follow this page to change your details over (current contract or PAYG):

http://swapmysim.o2.co.uk/

I had all this confirmed by o2 when i called the other day. However if you don't want to wait for o2 to send you a sim and change your details over a pair of scissors will also suffice ;)

Hope this helps mate.

Just been into local Carphone Warehouse. They advised me to come in the day before (as they should have iPhones in stock by then) and they should hopefully be able to set one aside for me for the 24th, as I can't get there when they open 'cause I start work at 7:30 am everyday...

And I'm definitely thinking Vodafone. Their tariffs are far superior. Three will no doubt undercut all the networks, but their 3G coverage has always been **** in my experience.

Considering o2 wont be doing pay and go at launch I guess I am off to Apple Meadowall on release day.

Hopefully they will be some left at 7pm :(

Guys

A friend of mine said you can pay an early upgrade fee but then you have to pay for the new 4G handset as well? Does that sound right? I know I paid £90 odd for the 3Gs when I took out my £35 a month contract?

The early upgrade fee only gets you out of your current contract, you are then going into an iPhone 4 contract as a new customer so have to pay full price for the handset on whatever contract you choose.
