*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

For anyone else confused about the e-mail that states the phone is reserved but at the bottom in small print says, "first come first served".

I Rang Apple in Exeter, they said that if you've reserved one it will be there no matter what and won't be sold to anyone else.

If anyone else can phone the store they've reserved with and make sure that's the default and not just a misinformed shop person and post back I think a few of us wouldn't have to worry so much (I've sold my old phone so need another asap!).

Can confirm Bristol Cabot Circus has said the thing!

Am I right in thinking you can only get an iPhone4 on launch day from an O2 store if you take up an 18 or 24 month contact. The O2 "Where To Buy" page says they wont be offering any PAYG phones on launch :(

How do they 'have you'?! It's still up to the customer whether they stay with o2, it just gives them priority over new customers, which is what any good company should do!

They didn't last time around though did they?

They know this time though that a lot of people want the iPhone and also through their exclusivity deal on the 3G, they gained a lot of new customers for the iPhone. Many of which, are currently still on 02 and will renew with the iPhone 4 if they can get one. If they gave priority to new customers on this one, they loose out.

It makes a lot of sense, but I doubt they go out of their way to do nice things for existing customers, they are doing this one cause they have too.

Looks like it is going to be a pain to get your hands on one of these on release day :(.

I am praying Orange don't go and do the same thing o2 has.

im just going to wait till i can orrder one over the phone with o2 as my upgrade, cant be bothered going into the shop and queing with loads of people :p

Out of intrest i didnt think the new os4 worked on the 3G just the 3GS ?

I have my options sorted now :)

Call the store where you have it reserved.
Had a very charming conversation with Ellie from the Exeter store where mine is reserved who assured me through looking at her system that my name is on a list and 1 will be available on the day. However, she did say that I should bring in my conformation e-mail and other documentation for the contract purposes.

What time you getting there mate?

I'm wondering how many phones each store will get. I'm guessing it will be only be a handfull if they are saying things like they are about shortages.

So, it seems that if you want a subsidised handset on O2 or any of the other carriers for that matter, your only choice is to camp out at the store really early on launch day.

I'm undecided at the moment, thought about getting there early just to make sure I got a phone but it sounds like they really are reserving them for pre-orders so I think we'll end up cruising over around 11am when the main crowds have died down.

wheres this Dolphin 15 option on the Orange site mate ?

Pain in the bum that we can only get it in store.. By the time I can get to one they will most probably be sold out.

Edit - actually CPW are most likely doing online orders so will hopefully order with them again.

Reserved a black one at Arndale yesterday, but managed to get a pre-order in for delivery so no longer need the reserved item.

Is there any way you can use this reservation - if there is you are welcome to it ;)

Chris

Chris, I am still interested in taking this reserved item of you as I want the 32GB! I have emailed you! Get back to me ASAP :p

For all O2 peeps who have pre-ordered through Apple:

If you have pre-ordered iPhone 4 directly from Apple you can get an O2 micro sim from any O2 shop. Simply go to an O2 shop any time from Monday 21 June and bring along your pre-order confirmation email from Apple. You'll need to show it in order to get your micro sim.

So looks like a trip to the O2 store for me :)

Will i be able to do this?
Im not an existing O2 customer, im joining them for the first time (coming from virgin)

I havent got my O2 Sim yet, but i think i might go and get my Simplicity sim sorted this week.

I guess this also means that existing customers on simplicity essentially cant buy one without upgrading their contract to a normal iphone contract. Or obviously going through apple, pretty stingy on O2s part.
