I'm still optimistic for Wednesday. There's only one thing worth doing, winning. No point playing for a draw (not that we ever should have been, but at least now we can't), and I think the reality check of the Algeria game should give them a firm boot up the arse.

Not great we should be busting out the war cries this early on, but hey ho. No-one said being England was easy.

How anyone can say these players are world class is beyond me. In my book, to be world class you have to play amazing at world competitions and standout.

Absolutely, our players have done their best to prove theyre not world class. I think too many of them believe the hype that they are world class and the Premier League is the best in the world. In terms of quality and strength of teams (from top to bottom) Id rate the premier league third behind Spain and Germany. The amount of fans Ive heard since the Algeria debacle screaming about how we have the best league in the world and should be better, ffs use your eyes instead of just swallowing what those pricks on sky sports tell you.

I'm convinced the players hate one another, been saying it for a while.

I get the feeling that there's two camps within the team. Lampard, Cole & Terry in one camp and Gerrard & Rooney in the other, with the rest of the players either divided between the two or trying to stay out of it.

I can't believe that these world class players can turn into useless muppets over night, and I also can't believe that Capello hasn't a clue.

Something's wrong and the only thing left is that they actually hate playing with/for each other.

I think the PL probably is (at least one of) the best league, however it is the best because it is choc full of high quality foreign players rather than fantastic English players.

Having the best league means nothing when that league only has a smattering of domestic talent in it and so it's no surprise that English international football bears no resemblance to the quality of the league.

Hehe, not my style, I am not into bashing footballers just because of the shirt they wear. :)

Nor am I but there are clearly divided factions within the group, someone mentioned it being chelsea boys and then Gerrard and Rooney. I doubt that because Rooney and Terry have been beating all comers on the snooker table playing together.

I think there is definately a split how the format suits or doesn't suit players.

Personally I don't if they play to Lampards, gerrards or rooneys strengths but when they do they should then do it by playing the best players in the other positions instead of juggling the names to suit.

How do you know the players didn't decide???? He said he was there as a representive from the players.

of the players more than from - whatever words were used imo (and consering how badly they speak they could say "from" and mean "of" anyway)

Dont think it adds that much considering the amount of speculation already surrounding the WC squad.

Whether Terry is Captain or not he is still one of the most experienced at International level anyway, in years gone by its by no means always the captain anyway, however crucial the next game is

I still believe you put your best 11 out on individual merit (apart from Gerrard/Lampard which has been proven by 3 or 4 managers NOT to work) if Gerrard plays - given he is current captain he has to play unless "injured" - & he HAS to play centrally - whether as AM or 2nd Striker, either way that means Lampard doesnt with Barry and Carrick either side of SG and JCole and Lennon either side of them

Thats the only way England will get out of the group - if Capello insists on playing SWP then England havent got a chance, I would also swap right back although we dont really have a choice (I guess it would be Carragher from the squad IF he was selectable for next game)

Terry should be captain anyway.

No reason at all he should have it back - and plenty of them where good enough (on their own let alone collectively) for him to have it stripped from him in the first place

I think it's nonsense this talk of players not getting on and not playing for each other.
They're the same players who beat everyone in qualifying whilst putting in some great performances, the only thing that's changed is Terry lost the captaincy and there's no way on earth that him banging someone's ex ages ago is having an effect on the performances now.
There might well be a few players not happy with the formation used, or Heskey used ahead of Crouch/Defoe when it's obviously not working.
At the end of the day we just played crap and they'll be an inquest today as to why and hopefully it'll be sorted.

Totally agree , if we'd beat USA and drawn the last game , they would still of been a debrief so to speak the only difference is the media would not of reported it to death! There even showing it over here in Taiwan!

Wednesday can't come soon enough , either we'll get through and they will shut up for a while at least , or we'll be out and everyone can get back to moaning about manyoo/chelsea etc etc:p

Have to start handing out tin foil hats looking at all these conspiracy theories :D:D

When you listen to the James interview and then the Terry conference it's pretty clear there has been a fallout. Terry did nothing to put that speculation off, infact he stoked it tbh after being asked about Anelka.

I'm sure a lot of the players have perfectly valid points, the trouble is if player power starts selecting the team again like it did with Beckham and Sven.

It should be a non issue because that group of players should have enough about them to beat USA and Algeria 3-0 and then give the fringe players a run out against Slovenia.

As usual though we make a complete balls up of the group.

I'll be surprised if Rooney starts against Slovenia, if we lose we are out. How many chances does he need to have to "turn it on" so to speak. He has done nothing in both games so far be it due to himself or to the formation/ position he is playing.

Also apart from the goal the almighty Gerrard has been poor as well.
