World Cup 2010 - GROUP C (England, USA, Algeria, Slovenia) **spoilers**

which team do you support?

Just to really rile you up, ABE and a dash of Argentina. :)

I'd normally be supportive of the England team but this year it's their attitude off the pitch instead of on it. As I said before, there's this pervading myth that England is one of the major contenders for the world cup and they act like it by sulking after two draws - it's the self-entitlement that astonishes me and has really put me off. When you see all these 'crisis' and 'Terry questions authority and clashes with Rooney' etc, you'd think they had just lost both their games spectacularly - but no. They drew twice and can still top the table.

The mind boggles.

Can we even get through now? If we and USA win our games, doesn't it go down to goal difference? We'd need to beat Slovenia by 3 goals wouldn't we?

Both us and USA would go through, who scores most will go through top i.e. better GD.

played slovenia last night on fifa 10. even though heskey kept fumbling the ball he still managed to get 4 goals, and England won 10-0 :p ohh that would be nice hehe

Now capello is italian and cant speak english well, how the **** can u expect him to motivate the squad properly? A national teams manager should in my eyes be of the same nationality so he has that same spirit and desire to succeed.

Sometimes when a team is down or weakhearted a strong manager or captain can fix this, i dont think an italian manager can do this for an english team.

I see, so is this a peculiarly English thing this inability to play well for a foreign coach? And why does it only affect them when they are playing for the national team since they can manage to play at least acceptably well for their clubs if they have a foreign manager?

How do other nations manage with a coach who is not of the same nationality? c.f. Guus Hiddink for the most obvious coach who manages to work pretty much anywhere in the World and get the teams performing well.

You do know that 2 teams go through?
England win = 5 points
Slovenia 4
USA, max 5
Algeria, max 4

GD for USA and England are both 0, so if England wins by more goals (or if USA draws/loses), England top the group.

Can someone please explain to me how on gods green earth Matthew Upson (a player badly out of form whilst playing for a struggling club) gets the nod ahead of Michael Dawson (a player who has won player of the season at Spurs while getting a champions league berth!)!?!?!?!?!

I know he's played with Terry before and has more experience at international level but wasnt it Capello that once said he would always pick on form!?!?!?!?!?!?

Muppet!

Please go for a 4-5-1 formation with the front 6 being made up of Joe Cole, Gerrard, Lampard, Barry, Rooney, and Lennon (unless Aaron is still scared, in which case use Milner, if he's over his virus now).

So much for not announcing the team until 2 hours before kickoff...

It seems he hasn't a clue what he's at.

He's said already that he won't be doing that for the third game.
Indeed, Dawson is better than Upson by a country mile.

LOL, don't be daft. Wes Brown is better than Dawson!

Seriously though, if Capello thought Dawson was better than Upson, don't you think he would have been in the squad before Rio's injury? Upson was obviously going to play, if fit. King will play ahead of them both, if fit.

I think Dawson on form is better than Upson off-form without question really.

Though we can't really know if anything has changed since the end of the season etc.

scared? Lennon hasnt been playing well this WC purley because glory boy Johnsen hasnt got a brain.

Just poor management IMO. You either tell Johnson to support him rather than forcing him inside or not play the both of them. Lennon is good at Spurs because the RB always looks to play it to him on the wing and support.

Then when he does get the ball, he does seem scared. Scared of being dropped should he lose the ball once too often. And who can blame him? Green was hardly shown much sympathy.
