No amount of formation or tactics would have really saved England on Friday against Algeria.
It was their complete and utter lack of ball control and simple passing technique that let them down.
Totally agree.

It was their complete and utter lack of ball control and simple passing technique that let them down. They couldnt even trap the ball properly for god's sake. Almost every pass was wayward, there was no urgency about them and they simply never looked like doing anything.
It looked more psychological than anything else.
The simple fact is, is that on Friday, none of them could actually play football at anywhere near the quality needed at this level, correct formation or not.
I didn't watch the match... how bad was it? How would they have faired against a middle of the road club like Liverpool, Everton or Stoke?
Capello saying Terry made a 'big mistake' and that only he came to Capello about the problems. Isn't that Gerrard's job?
I
Terry is still the real 'captain' - as in, he does what the captain should be doing for the team.
Saying he's speaking for the team when in fact he's just speaking for himself?
No, clearly speaking for them all, and when it looked like Capello was going to get mad about players wanting to talk openly to him, the rest backtracked and had their agents make statements so they don't get dropped and lose sponsorship money, that seems pretty much how it happened.
Whats not denied and seems to have happened, is after the shambolic game 9 of the senior players had a pint, talked it over and all had issues they wanted to talk to Capello about, Terry said this, Capello got angry 8 players wimped out.

Terry went into the press-conference and gave his 'I am tarzan' speech without the support or knowledge of the players he was speaking 'on behalf of' and has been left to look like the idiot he is
He did actually state in the conference that he was speaking for himself when he gave his answers.

So you really think he was speaking for the team when he stated that Rooney and Cole were the only players who could unlock a defence?
I doubt that Lampard, Gerrard, Lennon, SWP, Milner, or Carrick were particularly impressed by that particular write off, they are all capable of unlocking defences when they play well.
Breaking News just in from talksport:
Heskey dropped, Lennon dropped. Joe Cole not in starting line up. Defoe on from the start, Milner on from the start.
