Was a brilliant game. Could have score so many times. One thing I hope for the next game is Barry doesn't play. I don't know if anyone else noticed, but he was the clear weak link in the whole game from my perspective - he gave slovenia a couple of good opportunities that just shouldn't have happened. Too much of a liability against the big teams imo.

We won and actually looked up to it.

Good enough for me and you can bet if we do come up against Germany we will definitely up our game.

Great commitment in the defence as well!

Not even basketball, if you look at the interest, knowledge, money put into it, football in the USA comes behind basketball, American football, baseball, ice hockey, tennis and golf.

They beat us playing their seventh most popular sport. Something sickening about that.

Firstly, football has been said to be a well watched sport in America, they also have the second biggest following at this world cup after South Africa.

Secondly, they didn't beat us, it was a draw. Have you been reading AMerican newspaper headlines? :p

Have to agree, he looked off the pace and gave the ball away far too easily a couple of times.

I'm the only American in my neighborhood, and I think my neighbors thing I'm crazy for yelling so loud at the end of the England game (we scored just as the whistle was blowing in your game)

Other than not being clinical, and occasional tendency to pass back/lump it when not needed what did we do that was so bad?

I think people need to differentiate between possesional football and poor football. And they must not have watched many England games before.

Still lots of room for improvement but it will come. For now let's celebrate the fact that we are through to the last sixteen. Bring them on whoever they are. :)

Too little too late. We still played averagely, but much better than before.

Now we have to beat Germany, which in my view is unlikely, and then even more so against Argentina.

Never mind though, at least we can keep our flags up for a while

The good thing is we are through without hitting any sort of form.
Bad news is rooney doesn't even look fit Joe cole doesn't look fit either and I am still worried about our pace at the back.

Overall a scrappy performance and we rode our luck and scraped through cant help but feel all we have done is delayed the disappointment.

The way I looked at it was the quality difference between the basketball teams of both national sides is far greater than the difference in the football teams. I didn't take into account popularity.
