*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

Thanks for the mini review e36Adz!

I agree with you about the case and so forth, I will be using it without too as the build quality is something that you've paid for, its no good if you wrap it up with god knows what!

I am at a loss as to why Samsung have just released the Galaxy S which is awfully built in comparison, feels like you are holding one of those pretend phones that comes free with a happy meal :p

Cheap materials means cheaper phone i suppose...saying that i dont think the iphone4 is worth £600 tbqh. But unlike the 3GS which i saw regular online retailers selling for £800+ unlocked i guess its not too bad.

If apple were selling them £600+ then id probably would have got the 16gb but for an extra £100 with another 16gb of storage...its pretty decent.

Indeed, I thought about getting a 16GB but I know I would just regret it, its a bargain really considering how much extra space you get.

Been considering one of those "zagg invisible shields" but after looking at some install vids it looks like a real possibility some fluid could get into the headphone or 30 pin connector ports.

Just popped over to a mate who I know fitted a zagg (I think its called) invisible shield on his, I must say it is not bad at all. I would rather go for something like that over some sort of case. You still get to see the phone in all its glory at least ;)

Whether I forked out £500 or £600, both are pretty insane amounts of money for me, I'm not loaded... but I knew if I got the 16GB I later would have probably wished I spent the extra £100. Spending £500 and regretting it a bit would have stung, so I thought what the hell and just went for the 32GB.

I am still gonna try hustle a free bumper case from Apple, which I will sell off to fund my in-car charger and phone holder. :D

I've tried getting a free bumper over the phone, but no cigar. Anyone managed to get it free?

My GF managed to get it free on friday, she was very polite to the people on the phone to them.

She did say reading macrumors apple have stopped handing them out as freely now after rumors of a software fix and it also depended on the phone advisor you speak to and the mood they are in

Yehh I was really polite to the advisor and I basically had him constantly saying sorry towards the end lol but the bottom line was there was absolutely nothing he could do and recommended I book an appointment at my local Apple store.

Do that.

Walk in.

Raise hell.

My GF gently dropped it in that she read online that bumpers can help, and that its all over the net that they can help things, you need to be careful with wording i guess

Id have to wonder about the warranty with that thing though. The film has to be wet down and ive seen some install vids where the film is moving around the earpiece hole in the front of the phone so i can only assume some of that fluid is finding its way inside. It would be one of those things where all seems fine but if the phone ever screws up and apple check the moisture sensors it could very well tell them moisture has found its way in.

It looks amazing once installed though, but i have to wonder about the fluid finding its way inside, after watching several installs it seems pretty hard to keep the moisture away from the earpiece.

I said pretty much exactly what you just said mate. I couldn't have directed the conversation in the direction of a free bumper any better if i tried, nor made it anymore of an obvious solution lol. It is pot luck with customer advisors though. The one i got through to was a bit slow and didn't really seem to know what was going on. It was the end of the day though...

Take a slightly more harsh of a stance.

Tell them you will be returning the phone and not using Apple again in future as this admitted (by Apple) design problem is hampering your use of the phone.
