*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

Just got off the phone with a supervisor - apparently the main europe office. Told him the whole issue and when I mentioned about free bumpers he raised his voice and said "we are not issueing free bumpers"

Obviously I argued saying my friend got a free bumper, why am I not entitled to this?
He replied it would be illegal for me to comment on that.
I said that I know people who got free bumpers and why are apple being selective but he kept saying "I can't comment on that"

Words were exchanged.. but he still didn't budge.

What a load of ****!

I've just spoken to Orange for an update, and the chap said everyone will get one 7-10 working days from when they placed the order.

That falls in line with what I was told a couple of days ago, so good stuff :)

Managed to get in touch with the apple store in regent st...said they have no iphones in stock but put me on a priority waiting list for a 32gb one should they get one....so just going to wait and see what comes of that.

Cancelled my order through apple direct...they arent expecting any till 29th july:(.

Apple's refusal to hand out free bumpers just shows you how many iPhone 4's have this antenna issue. I assume they are concerned that every person who has bought one so far will request a free bumper if they start handing them out to the odd person here or there. Even if the bumper only costs them £5 to make that is a lot of money if all 1.7 million iPhone 4 owners request a free one!

I bet the bumper cost them a 10p to make.

I guess the main problem with giving out free bumpers is that people would start going Apple shop to Apple shop and picking up a bumper of each colour. I'm not sure if there's a way they can track who they've already handed one out too?

This is the email i just got after ive complained about the order i placed on the 24th..

Please accept our aplologies for the stocking issues. We do not have an exact date for a stock replenishment but you will receive your I-Phone within 7 - 10 working days. You will receive a text once the order is processed and a further text once the order is with the couriers. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused. The delivery date online is always an estimation, never guaranteed. This is stated in the terms and conditions online. Please contact the couriers if you are unavailable to receive the order on the number left on the calling card showing your consignment number. You will be able to make a depot collection or arrange a more suitable date for delivery with the couriers.

Looks like a standard email to me, i dont think they've even bothered to check out the status of my order

This is really strange because I placed an order with Orange over the phone this morning and the guy said I'd get it tomorrow. After seeing some posts here, I concluded this was unlikely. However, I just got a text from orange saying the phone is already with the couriers.

I don't know if it has something to do with the fact I'm classed as a loyal customer but it seems I'm getting some sort of priority service.

Update: I just called Orange to confirm the text I got (I really want to be sure). They confirmed it's despatched and gave me the consignment number for the couriers. Along with the fact I'm only paying £31 a month instead of £35, my conclusion is it certainly pays to be a loyal customer when you do dealings with Orange! Heading to the Apple Store now to pick up a bumper.

I don't know if this has been posted already, but some people are solving their signal problem by doing this: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=955742

I tried this on my friend's iphone 4 today who could easily make his iphone drop to no service by covering the bottom left corner, but since filing down one side of the microsim slightly and repositioning it in the sim tray, we have been unable to reproduce the signal loss! :)

57 miles just to drive for a bumper, I dont think I can bring myself to do it :\

My bumper arrived today. Ordered on sunday, posted on monday, even though they're quoted as 5-7 working days.

It's £27.94 posted too, so much cheaper than a tank of petrol ;)

Very annoying

I hope you enjoy your new iPhone mate, hopefully Orange look at my loyalty and hurry the heck up lol :D

Just spoke to Orange CS again as people who had ordered today via phone have had their dispatch text.

The CS rep said ive been allocated a phone at 10.10am this morning and it will be delivered tomorrow/friday.

He said they had received a stock of 32gb phones this morning and mine had been allocated out of this stock.

I havent received a dispatch txt or email yet and the online tracking system still says 'being readied for dispatch' which its said for the past 6 days!.

Fingers crossed :)

If the bumper fixes the issue then apple should give them out for free. Its incredibly suspicious that this thing just happens to cover the problem areas and no more, its not even what you would call a proper case. In fact it seems pretty obvious that apple knew all about it but just went with the design anyway.

Fingers crossed for you too mate

Looks like I'll be waiting until next week as I haven't received any information at all today. I knew I shouldn't have left it until 2.30am on launch day :p
