I hope Ozil isn't money-obsessed and picks the right team :p

:(

Its a funny thing that, isn't it. We call footballers money obsessed when the difference between what he would get at city and united is the difference between crazy money and madness money.

Hopefully he will realise that one team can give him champions league football and the other team rely on the fame of manchester and the disinterest footballers have in the details of transfers to snare the best players.

Robinho does look rather tasty this world cup though. Maybe we should take him off city's hands.

City can afford to buy anyone they want.

Nobody comes close to them in terms of money in this country.

Would be interesting if the owners got board and walked away, same goes for Chelsea.

I just hope to god the new financial laws are properly implemented so the likes of Chelsea and City never touch the CL again.

Well they can get away with throwing money about for the next year or so, after that it's when this new 'you can only spend what you bring in' rule comes in. Until then, they will splash cash they've never made through the club and worry about the consequences later.

jakeke yes i watch football with my eyes closed. Higuin isnt a terrible player but i would say he is worse than tevez - and we got rid of him, so the idea of going out and spending more/the same on someone who in my eyes offers less would be maddess?

real madrid blow hot and cold. score goals and your in, bad form? your out and might have to leave the club.

I don't mind City trying to buy the title, its not like every other team ever hasn't tried the exact same thing at some point, however I do object to them buying players for £28m(!!) when they are worth nowhere near that.

Think I'd rather have Higuaín myself, he's almost as hard-working as Tevez, and he's a more prolific goalscorer, but mainly it's because he's very pacy. We haven't seen it much in this World Cup because the teams playing against Argentina have defended with a very deep line, but in La Liga when he runs into the channels behind defences, he is lightning, very reminiscent of Eto'o, and of course he is only 22.

Still, if it transpired Arsenal were going to sign Carlos Tevez, I wouldn't exactly be lodging a complaint :p

It can't just be me who finds that logic baffling?

You're comparing two random players, completely different players, in different leagues, at completely different times in their careers and that's good enough for you?

Wouldn't it be easier to watch him and see if he'd play to United's strengths?

Also, Higuain is much more clinical than Tevez and a proven goalscorer, something Tevez isn't (until possibly this season?), he's done this all before 22, Tevez is 26 :/

that's what annoys me when people say Zidane was better than Titus Bramble. How can they compare??

;) Just found it a strange way to turn down a player. It's like me saying Chamakh looks ok but I've seen him miss chances and he's not as good as Bergkamp so I don't want him at Arsenal.

In reality he looks like a good CF and fantastic header of the ball which Arsenal desperately need

I personally think that Higuaín is a better forward then Tevez :)

United didn't "get rid" of Tevez either, he decided to go to Manchester City for more money.

£27.5m is a lot. I'm really hoping this doesn't inspire the new ****head chairman of Barca to renew his interest in Cesc and offer a larger bid.

Looking more optimistically then perhaps this will have hampered their ability to negotiate. Yaya was rumoured to be used as a bargaining chip.
