If you came from a previous iPhone and restored your new phone from your old iPhones backup, it will carry across all its usage data.
Reset your data and start again from fresh and check it again in a week.

Is there any network that sells these on PAYG but unlocked / with the option to pay extra to unlock?
As far as I can work out, no. Ringtones still have to be in the .m4r format, and you can't set your own text sounds.
None at the moment due to the limited supply. Only Apple are selling it sim free atm.
To anyone who has done the sim swap with O2, how long did it take for the old sim to become inactive?

Well that sucks then, I was really surprised there wasn't any new sounds at all, one of my few complaints with my 3G was the lack of good text message tones.
Took mine around 3 hours to be changed over.
Would I be able to load my 3GS backup to the iphone4 without a sim in the phone?
Edit: Or should I say, without an active micro sim in the phone.

Managed to get one from O2 in Darlington on Saturday after rumours of delivery. Had to wait about 15 minutes, in a small queue and not all of those wanted iPhones. Walked out with a black 16gb iPhone 4.
First impressions are good, screen is gorgeous and I love the new shape. Feels better in the hand, more sturdy somehow.

There is no way in hell you will be able to walk into a shop and buy one (sim free). There is about a months backlog in Apple stores at the moment.
You might be able to get one on upgrade from O2 though but only on a 18/24 month contract.
Been an owner since launch day and I must say I am very happy with it bar it took o2 4 days to transfer the number =|. Anyone else find their battery life drops a lot when wifi is enabled .. even when its not connected to anything?

How long did it take for everyones microsims to be activated ? ive been waiting an hour now and still nothing

Mine was activate before I walked out the shop! They were almost too efficient, My old sim was switched off before I left the shop was went 4hrs without a phone while we shopped. Got home, backed up the 3gs, plugged in the new phone, switched on and synced.
Was unbelievably simple.
Yep, mine is connected to wi-fi for 9 hours while I'm at work, then for the rest of the day when I'm at home. After a full charge during the night, the battery is down to around the 30% mark by the end of the evening, after light usage.
Perfect, they told me someone from another team (sales support) was going to give me a call this weekend, gotna little as they haven't and they're starting to become available at other places.
