*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Anyone using FroYo look at www.htc.com on the browser, notice that in 2.2 there is less pinking on the htc site so they've adjusted the colours a bit by the looks of it!

I've reformatted my SD and EXT amd am restoring app+data so will continue using it I think.

The low fps I expect in the beta, but the actual quality isn't great. It doesn't look 720p...

Anyone else seeing lesser quality in the gallery apps? Looking at a pic I have on Flickr in the web browser it has nice gradients. In the gallery app there is a lot of banding.

I rehosted the a2sd file: http://robbiekhan.co.uk/root/android/desire_froyo_a2sd-signed.zip

The thread for the modded dj droid rom is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=720917

BTW the clockwork recovery mod used by rom manager has a clockwork-recovery.zip file in the sd/clockwork folder.

Copy this zip file, rename it update.zip then put it into the sd card root. Now you can boot into recovery with no rom manager installed (which will be the case when running through the first few reboots of installing djdroid for example).

So, to enter Clockwork mod recovery version 2.0.1.4 (latest, best):

1: With the newly named update.zip on SD root, reboot phone holding VOL DOWN+POWER

wait until volume keys work to move up/down (a green block of text will appear then vanish)

2: Press POWER to select "Recovery"

wait a few seconds

3: Press VOL UP+POWER

wait a few seconds, you'll see a blue command like screen with some options

4: Use volume keys to highlight the flash update.zip option and press POWER

phone will boot into clockwork recovery where you can do everything from backing up the entire phone (inc EXT) and restoring it/everything and so on.

The whole process to get into Clockwork takes 30seconds tops and once you've done it a few times it's second nature.

Clockwork recovery has more options than other recovery images and should be used when flashing anything new.

Thanks Khaaan!, followed these steps and got DJ Droid and radio sorted. Now for a2sd.

Quicky... If I use ROM Manager to partition my SD card (going for 3 gig and the rest as the apps partition which is about 600MB), how do I use Titanium backup to restore things as the partitioning will wipe the SD card....

Do I just install TI and then copy the TI backup folder back to the SD card and restore from there ??

OK, now stuck with a2sd.

I tried to create an ext partition using ROM Manager, the phone rebooted a couple of times. I then went into recovery and installed desire_froyo_a2sd-signed.zip but the ext partition doesn't seem to have been created. In recovery, if I go to Partitions I cannot mount sd/ext.

So how do I go around creating this ext partition? And once I have it, how do I install apps to it, is there an option somewhere?

Thanks

You don't need to mount the ext, just create the ext in rom manager, install the a2sd patch in recovery and reboot. Quick System info will report A2SD storage and also free internal memory will increase to over 100MB.

So I bit the proverbial bullet and put on the modded DJ ROM thingy....

Any tips/apps I should be aware of for Froyo over and above rooted Eclair ?? :)

so i am sitting in my car, on laptop, wirelessly tethered to my HTC desire doing some surfing.

Who said the iPhone was better? :)

old.thesixtyone.com works on 2.2 - never could get it working on 2.1... music on the go.

be careful of limits though! :)

Anyone managed to get Swype working on DJ Droid? I've installed and activated it but everything is still showing the default keyboard.

Yeah I had it working, have you longed pressed an input box and selected "Input Method" and chose Swype?

Edit: I've gone from DJ ROM to Paul's MCR R4. Paul's is faster and I baked in a cook looking Android boot screen and AP2SD+ Only issue on Paul's is geolocation seems to be borked but I'm sure it will be fixed and it isn't a major issue.
