I don't care how it affects me, I care about how it affects the women wearing it. Too many are oppressed by it. Ban it - end of.

My argument against that would be that an outside force cannot tell a culture/religion to change overnight. It has to happen from the inside. The women themselves and muslim men who sympathize need to work together to change it.

Should a change occur like that, it would be much more respected than a government forcing a ban.

You must be pretty daft if you think many willingly put it on. They'd much rather not. The popularity of hijabs (open face veils) in areas where burqas aren't the minimum required of women proves this.

Absolutely ridiculous statement which doesn't prove jack, how can you make up **** like that?

So how many of the women who wear a veil, really want to wear it?

And what about those who dont
Does it matter?

A person forcing someone to wear something is a social/domestic issue. Innocent women shouldn't be affected by the acts of a few numpties.

Theres 2 types of veil you see warn in this country full body face cover/ and just a Headscalf that only covers the hair and neck.

Majority by choice and a small minority by force. People are making it out to be something bigger then it is.

Go have a trip to Brum and see for yourself, there are areas I would not go near at night.

Those that do "join in" are fantastic people, far nicer that the Chavs we have.

But there are still many that do not want to be a part of England and want to live it like there own little eaststan.

You should go to the welsh valleys, or some villages in Cornwall. there are communities there that don't want to follow the culture of the UK and are actively hostile to outsiders...

How about those women who don't want to wear skirts or what ever else there husbands want them to wear. The problem is not with the veil and it is not restricted to the veil. The ban would solve ZERO, it would not target or remove oppression.

I see a woman in full black body dress quite often in Edinburgh southside.

She is white.

Why should our fellow country people not be allowed to express themselves as they wish? (within reason before any twit starts)

You're patently blind (probably obscured by the burqas you love so much) because in nations such as this particular one, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and other nations with more liberal attitudes in Islamic society, the hijab clearly outnumbers the burqa like the light of day. The burqa is highly uncommon compared to its lighter counterpart, everyone knows this  It's no different to us all wearing denim jeans instead of clown suits. Except clown suits are nowhere near as oppressive. :)

Its the full face thats the problem, not the headscalf

Never seen that in Cornwall. There are plenty of people opposed to the buying of so much property by wealthy Londoners to use as second homes, for sure. That's a huge problem. But it's not what you're talking about.

Have you got a specific example?

None of that proves how any woman does not and cannot wear a veil willingly.
