*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

My phone's weather widget now refuses to tell me the name of my location when I'm at home, and random other places. It just says "United Kingdom" instead. Any ideas?

Yes, all the location aware settings are turned on.

This is now also happening to me - might occasionally pick up the location but usually reverts back to United Kingdom. Also, when it does pick up the location it's a lot less accurate - it used to say 'Exminster' (my village) but now just says 'Exeter' (obv, the city nearby). Did you get this fixed, or does anyone else know why it's suddenly happening?

The weather data has been playing up on mine for a couple of days now, I'm assuming it must be something to do with the data provider.

Same thing for me, it used to say my villages name but now just says 'United Kingdom'.

On this note of weather widgets:

I live in a town called buxton, and usually, the widget displays "buxton" and correct weather, but occasionally it decides to switch to other nearby towns or villages. So, I thought I'd set the widget to constantly display the weather in buxton, but for some reason it doesn't exist in the list of towns. Clearly it does, as it comes up and shows the weather when I set it to automatically detect, so why can't I set it manually?

I think it has a limited number of towns it can actually get the weather for, but a lot of places it can work out where you are. So when I'm in, say, Newton Abbot, 20 miles down the road, it'll say I'm in Newton Abbot but it'll display the weather for Exeter. Therefore I guess you can only set the weather to one of the places it knows about.

Ahhh, that makes sense, fair enough then. :)

Argh!!! Ive been waiting 3months for a single black edition desire on orange to come into stock, when will this phone be available. Ive been so tempted to buy it in store in that horrid brown colour only to be fobbed off with its 24months or you got to pay £100 for the damn thing. and its all over the internet good deals on black edition but none in stock  its so frustrating.

Right, i've got my desire up and running.

May some kind fellow please explain what all this flashing and rom business is about? What does it do and why do it? Any guides available?

I'm going to give DeFrost ago (I just want to use my Wii remote :D )

Has anyone got a list of Good HTC Sense replacements

Weather, Dialer etc

Ok so I'm using dialer one but could really do with a decent calendar widget similar to the HTC one that shows the whole month any ideas?

With the defrost ROM I can unlock my phone by pressing the optical trackpad twice - bypassing the lock swipe - do not like (is it intended to be like that?).

Yes, it's not easy to accidentally press the trackpad in anyway so why is it not likeable?

Ive been running Sparta for a good while now but decided to have a change yesterday.

I installed unrEVOked with R5 and Defrost 2.1 with the uvoc1113 kernel, so far so good, I had a really good clear out and after about an hour went back to xda to see Defrost 2.2 had just come out :(.

One thing I have noticed that im sure a few have mentioned is the slow transfer over USB, it was transferring my music over at about 1mb/s where as before i would get about 5mb/s ?

Anyone else's battery getting raped under DeFrost 2.2?

Mine's been unplugged for exactly one hour this morning and its already gone down to 84%. I'm running the 998MHz UVOC kernel, wifi has been on for about 10 minutes only, GPS and 3G both turned off. Don't have any widgets that update automatically. No calls or texts made.

Battery use stats:

Cell Standby 32%
Android System 30%
Phone Idle 27%
Display 8%
Wi-Fi 2%
