** Official WoW Catalysm Alpha/Beta Thread **

On the newlook Bnet, under my WotLK entry there is a Cataclysm beta account which is showing as active until beta ends. Not sure I can face reinstalling the 20gb+ of WoW and the beta client to check either, especially with SC2 out in a few days.

Mine said the same as yours mart981. I updated and tried it and unfortunately it still doesn't work.

So, don't bother.
 
Thats exactly what mine says these days but still banned.

Whatever Blizzard person replied to my mail decided to ignore the part that asked about that.
 
The new b.net site shows that, it did on beta too.. dont waste your time downloading the game its still banned. The new site seems to have an issue showing bans
 
All i can say is this:

Someone who got an invite from me, to the Cata alpha, broke the NDA in such a way it flagged everyone i invited to be suspended. From what i can find out, they did the worse thing they could, although i am not able to say so please, dont ask.

I apologise for you being suspended, i truely did not mean this to happen, and i am still trying to get you all un-suspended. But as all investigations go, they take a lot of time to check out and verify.

When i know more, i will let you all know.

Until then, i can only say sorry and hope no one hates me too much. Good intentions sometimes are not enough but i am still trying for you all.

I don't blame u or hold anything against u m8. U did a great thing which had to be destroyed by someone else on an ego trip. I don't hold up much hope of being unsuspended. I know ur doing all u can and thats all we can hope for.

Many thanks for the invite in the 1st place and letting me have some input into the alpha. Keep smiling Colin, you only try and help us all :)
 
Heinous crimes, I will lol if that person is ever named, I hope it's not someone who enjoys posting here or has any sort of good reputation.

Anyway it's just nice to start finding out why we all got banned to be honest, not knowing anything for sure was frustrating, along with reading all the random posters putting in their 2 pence worth.

Don't blame you Colin.

All I can think of is the person was leaking info onto websites (like screen shots) or maybe account sharing.

I've quit WOW for the moment... it's not personal at you so don't take it like it is. Literally I'm just bored of live, and the alpha was the only thing keeping me interested (all my friends on live had either quit, or whatever) so live kinda fell over for me.

Not a whine or a moan - just saying. :)
 
Oh well, nice to finally know what the reason was.

On a related note, i do have to chuckle that they'd be so picky about the NDA when the beta forums still have every post from the alpha (yes posts that were about content under NDA). Would have thought they'd wipe the forums when it went from alpha to beta.

Thanks a lot, I think this is all people wanted to know, no one's blaming you for it so don't worry :) It's just fustrating.
 
Aye, there's always one who spoils it for the rest but I definitely don't blame you Colin. Thanks for the update, it's a great relief to know at least the 'why' even if you can't give details :)
 
Thanks for clearing that up, and as already said, why would we hate you?! It wasn't your fault! Always one person spoiling things for the rest :(

I don't think anyone holds anything against you mate, though fyi I didn't get banned from the beta and have been playing it every so often (which is a bit of a waste as I've been utterly underwhelmed by it and will likely cancel my sub pretty soon)
