** Official WoW Catalysm Alpha/Beta Thread **

Got an e-mail this morning saying I'd been accepted for the beta and on checking my account at battle.net found that it was activated for it, so looks like we were only banned from the end of the alpha and will eventually get in. :)
 
I got an email this morning too... and bnet still shows my account is supposedly active, and it even lets me copy a character to the beta server, but I'm still banned when I try to login.
 
New patch today which means you have to uninstall and redownload the entire client due to how the mpq files are managed, plus the new installer. You can now play while you install, but areas and objects that aren't yet loaded in will be shown or blocked off with an ethereal blue sheen. A lot of players are saying it's actually done really well. For example, the game will give priority to quest and zone assets that your character is currently on or about to do.

And I would hazard a guess that Colin has had a hand in making this happen, so thanks to you sir!
 
Yeah, has anyone actually physically logged into the game again though?

Edit: Nope, they haven't, we're still banned. Nice to download all that ****ing crap again though. I wasn't too annoyed at first but now I'm actually starting to take it personally. The whole thing is an incompetant mess, you don't expect it from a company like Blizzard.

Not yet since I got it while I was checking from work, though I would've thought they wouldn't have sent out the e-mail saying my account was in? :confused:
 
Personally I'm waiting for Colin to give offical notice that those that got suspended have had there access restored.

Until then its luck of the draw I guess.

Also, whoever said we got banned on future beta's must be wrong if others who were previously banned have been selected for the beta. But its just a wild guess :)
 
Had to laugh at Blizz sending a mail about the new launcher and to uninstall the old beta. Be nice if they checked if accounts were banned before mailing them :rolleyes:
 
erf gotta download the whole client again thanks to this new launcher :( 15.6 gigs this is gonna take forever on my crappy connection.

I don't think so, I think you've just been lucky enough to be selected by Blizzards automatic beta system as I had. I have been banned like everyone else, but received a NEW beta invite when some of my current guildies did. So I'm assuming thats why some people are back in and others are not.

Indeed, although i can copy characters to the Beta realm now, don't know if i cba to download the client to be disappointed.

i doub't i have been unbanned as i'm still prohibited from posting on the beta forums.

Well I'm gonna download it tonight and see what happens. Unlike some in here, I'll be pleased if I am unbanned, but if it turns out I'm not I'll not be throwing my toys out of the pram.

if u are still banned on the forum, u are banned in game.... save yourself a download... check to see if u can post 1st

Tried that and yeah Im still banned (also downloaded the client over the weekend and confirms account is still banned)

Oh well. :)
