Mafia II Thread

I tried out the 360 demo yesterday, I thought the graphics looked really good! Is it just me? I liked the shooting and driving mechanics, I enjoyed it even though I didn't blow up any cars!

Nope, felt the same here. Can't see what all the fuss is about. :D

I'm getting this on 360. To be honest I don't really care how it looks on the console, as long as its playable. The first game was one of my favourite games of all time and I hope this one is as good... Does anyone remember the race level on the original? Took me weeks to do that!

G.

We're playing it now! Cars handle like milk vans and the controls end up in typical 3rd person shooter mode where it cant pick the right thing to hide behind, but its a lot of fun! The graphics are pretty good and the game play is fun :) cant wait till the end of the month for the full game

played both PC and 360, tbh I couldn't see a massive difference. Framerate is better obviously. Having explored the city quite a lot I'm not looking forward to this as much, the world is just lifeless, the city has nothing worth exploring, lots of copy and paste scenery, even the 2 clothes shops are identical. I think the story might be good but I'll probably rent this, really makes you realise how well the GTA4 city was designed.

Just played the demo, day one purchase for me now. Any better prices than £31.99 on PS3 around? Seems a great price for a new title.

Massive framerate drop in that warehouse firefight, and the Police radio is dam cheesy, had to laugh at that when I heard it.

I'm a little dissapointed in the demo, jaggies seem more pronounced than other games and the framerate feels quite low all the time. I wonder if the PC version would run any better on an 8800GT?

Just tried the 360 version and can't say I noticed any real gameplay changing framerate issues tbh? Pretty smooth in most circumstances I thought. It does get a bit clunky and console 3rd person shootery in the control stakes at times but it's a definite buy for me. As soon as I started playing this the fond memories of the first game came back to me and consequently I don't think they've managed to ruin it (yay) from what I've seen. I'll be surprised if it's as good overall as the first game but first impressions are positive...

D/l the Ps3 version now just out of curiosity in case theres anything that makes one better than the other..roll on the 27th either way :)

The demo is not representative of the final product. There are differences between the 360 and PS3 demos but they have supposedly been made identical on final release.

2K Elizabeth made a post about 10hrs ago stating that the demos are representative.

LOL, I love it when the company says two completely different things.

EDIT: Thanks for the link - very interesting read. Elizabeth is getting a right bashing from unhappy PS3 owners. It definitely seems that platform has got the short end of the stick when it comes to visual quality. Again. Frankly, four years since launch, it's ridiculous.

Tried the PS3 demo, screen tearing was abysmal and it didn’t look too good in places either.

Average looking and performing game at best, so going to go and download the PC demo and give this a go instead.
