So we're looking at Parker now? Are the 7 central midfielders we currently have not enough for 3 spots in the team? I can only assume that should we get Parker one of Aquilani, Lucas or Pacheco will be sacrificed to make room. Whoever's making these decisions needs shooting before we're left with a team of pensioners. The idea is to increase our league postition not the average age of our squad.

I can't believe Nasri is out for a month already. Hopefully Fabregas is back and moves back into his position. I am sure there is something in the water that makes our players have brittle bones or something

Can someone explain the Beba transfer to me please, i've read that 6 weeks ago he signed for Vitoria Guimaraes on a free from a 3rd division team but 5 weeks after that he signs for Man U for 7 mil!! Is that true and if so WTF?

From the SAF interview from yesterday, apparantly United's scount in Portugal was getting crazy about him, and basically told SAF he HAS to sign him. Add to that Carlos Queiroz's good word, and Real Madrid sniffing around as well, and hes signed without SAF even seeing him play football live, or on TV.

He better be good :p

Whaaaaa hes injured again??:(...same as last season, broke his leg in pre season and was out for a month or so.

Geez Arsenal players are getting more and more fragile as each season begins and ends.

Ireland is not a better player than Milner.....he was given numerous chances last year in his favoured position and didnt take them, played in pre season and didnt do anything....he had one good season 08-09 so i think its a bit unfair to say hes better than Milner who has good last year, decent year before? showed promise at Newcastle.

He's only had two real seasons, the first one, firstly City weren't good, he played in around 13 games worth of time(less than this season marginally) he was essentially a sub. His second season, 4 goals, 4 assists, again in a pretty poor team, then he had a truly superb "break out" season got 9 goals, 10 assist and was one of if not the best player in the team. Last season he got some mysterious illness and was mostly not involved in the forst 4 months of the season, they never really elaborated but he passed out and ended up in hospital, he then really never got a chance to get back in the team. However I saw him come on in several games, almost every time the team improved a lot, and almost every time he was one of the best players on the pitch.

He is a better player than Milner, Milner's a workhorse, thats about it, he can put in a decent cross every now and then, and lots of bad crosses. He doesn't have the passing ability, doesn't see the kind of through ball Ireland can, doesn't have a 1/10th of the vision Ireland has. Milner has played a LOT of games every year and has been thoroughly average, nothing more or less and has been overhyped because he's English.

Unless Ireland had an incredibly poor preseason if he was left out like Bellamy was(I don't have a clue if he was or wasn't) then he should do very well at Villa. If not it might take him a while to establish himself and get fitness but I can see Ireland working incredibly well with guys like Ashley Young, Gabby and Carew making runs infront of him.

Oh well, its almost like playing as many minutes as possible in preseason, sending him off to play for france, then starting a shattered Nasri in the first game was a bad idea. Nasri looked beyond dead in the first game, his game was off, he wasn't moving that much and just looked drained. Assuming everyone knew he was off for French duty, he should have had a quieter last week or two before the international.

He's not a particularly fit player, he's never been a run all day type and he's not got pace and we ran him absolutely ragged throughout preseason. But Wenger does this, when he finds a player in form he'll play them hard till they get injured even if every other manager in the world would rest a few players, taking into account internationals coming up and the fitness of a player in general.

Home grown rule probs

What?

City have enough to sort that out no problems.

Personally, I'd have kept Ireland, I think he will develope in to a real quality player.

Milner, he's over rated, still good though, I'd have got Ozil for half the money personally :)

Ireland if he can get his form back is a better player than Milner.

In fact, I dont see Ireland spending that long at Villa, I can see him being bought off them for than £8 million next summer.

reports (from Stoke end) that they are possibly about to sign Gibson from Utd

Unconnected reports that Raul Miereles (sp) from Porto is not going to be playing in their Europa match tomorrow (and amongst others Chelsea and Utd are both connected with potential interest)

IF Gibson goes on loan it would suggest that Utd were in the msrket for a midfielder.... of course it could be complete BS (and most probably is) but Ive certainly never read the Gibson rumour before just now

Gibson has had plenty of opportunities on loan, if he is thinking about loaning him out he might as well just sell him, he's what 24 now?

He was incredily poor in preseason and last season, made wrong passes all the time, didnt track back, did nothing of quality, when he came on he was one of the best players? are you serious? take the UTD game as an example...showed no vision, passion, will to get back and mark Scholes who had he done probably wouldnt have scored....ever since he was given a new contract he hasnt done anything, apart from spend money on spraying his car every week.

dont know how hold he is, but he has certainly had enough opportunities (both at OT and on loan) imo

Just reporting speculation :)

Fulham confirmed Moussa Dembele :)

Fulham FC said:
Fulham Football Club has today confirmed the signing of 23 year old Moussa Dembele from AZ Alkmaar on an 3 year deal that will see the player at the club until the summer of 2013.

A creative, attacking player with plenty of pace, an eye for goal and a good range of passing, Moussa Dembele has been one of the Eredivisie’s most exciting players in recent seasons.

Dembele started his professional career at Germinal Beerschot before moving to Willem II in 2005. Despite the Tilburg side enduring a difficult season and finishing in the lower half of the table, Dembele weighed in with an impressive nine goals.

His performances caught the attention of AZ Alkmaar and he joined Louis van Gaal’s side in the summer of 2006. He scored six goals for AZ in his first season and followed that with a fine 07/08 campaign.

However it was his magnificent performances in Alkmaar’s 2008/09 title-winning season, which saw Dembele provide a number of assists and score 10 goals that confirmed him as one of the Eredivisie’s prime talents.

Dembele is also a regular in the Belgium national team.

Moussa Dembele said:

‘I am very happy to join Fulham and look forward to training with the team to prepare for the first home game of the season. It has always been a dream to play in the Premier League and I will make sure that I make the most of this opportunity.

‘I understand that Fulham has a strong squad, so I am prepared to work hard for the Manager and take my chance to impress him, and my teammates, when the opportunities arise.’

Mark Hughes commented:

‘I’m glad that we have finalised the deal with Moussa Dembele and I would like to welcome him to the Club. It is important that we go into the season with some additions to the squad that will add strength and depth to enable us to compete at a consistently high level throughout the season.

‘Moussa is strong and quick and will add another dimension to our attacking options, which is important for us. I look forward to working with him, and to hopefully, a few more additions before the window closes.’

The best bit;

I look forward to working with him, and to hopefully, a few more additions before the window closes.
