Jags & Jags ...has anyone here ever owned or lived with a Jaguar XJ6 X300 (1994-1997)

Yea I thought it was supposed to be leather or something, whole effect doesnt really work though, ends up just feeling like vinyl or something :(

Better than having a fuzzy felt in the door bin :D

The Jag does have loads of storage in the armrest though, which is nice ...and that is carpeted.

If you had a look at the C2 I have now, you'ed see what a really cheap interior is like :p ...having said that, I would say that the plastics are probably of a better standard than those on that Impala I had in Canada. I understand Citroen weren't going to put cruise control and such on the C2, but why they couldn't put a centre armrest in I don't know, I don't know what to do with my left arm when on the motorway. Stupid car.

Is it really possible to fry an ecu by jumping.

ECUs also get uppity if you connect the -ves before the +ves and if you connect the -ve lead to the -ve terminal of the dead battery instead of the engine block or bodywork.

Things were much simpler in the days of carbs, dizzys and mechanical fuel pumps. :)

To be fair, not many crap cars have centre armrests, the citroen isnt unusual in that regard.

Best of luck with the fix :)

Jags have leather in the door bins not that cheap carpet :)

You'll always get some ****** tell you 'carpet' is better though, it's like people who try and convince you leather seats are not as good as their good old cloth versions..

;)

* yes, I'm just kidding..

Well a few minutes ago I got a call from Evans Halshaw, apparently they have sorted the problem now and said they can deliver my car to me by half twelve ...well if they really have sorted it ..and they aren't just delivering it so it's 33 miles away from their dealership when I realise it isn't fixed or something (experience has taught me to expect this kind of crap) ...thus hoping instead of driving straight back in I go to my local Stratstone instead (6 miles away) waving my warranty book.

Although I quite fancied the drive back to give the car a proper test ...I'm glad they are delivering as it saves me driving all the way back down their again for now (in that C2 which has an almost empty fuel tank and I'm not sure it'll even make it back without a fuel stop) ...I wasted hours there yesterday and I do have more productive things to do ...like earning money to put into a pot to waste on another car one day :p

I asked the guy who phoned me what the problem was, he didn't know exactly (of course he didn't!) but did say if I gave the mechanic I saw yesterday a ring he'ed tell me exactly what it was.

If I get a car with an illuminated battery light I wont be very impressed ...if it's sorted then I will be a happy chap and in all honesty I will be pleased with the service I received. The offer of delivery is nice, unexpected to be honest but good.

Hehe you both read my mind, I just got off the phone with him. It was basically a loose connection apparently. Although the plug was tight one of the 4 pins in it was bent out (I'm guessing a bit like a mollex connection or something, you know how each pin is cut into 4 prongs to about a 3rd of it's length) in such a way that it wasn't making full and proper contact ...thus causing the fault. Well he sorted it out by bending it back and cleaned it up properly with contact cleaner.

He said to me he took the car on a 4-5 mile run around their local roads (he wanted some roads with bumps and a bit of rougher surfacing to test it) to make sure it was ok and it didn't come on at all. Well I didn't even get half a mile on a smooth surface lastnight.

The mechanic also said he has told the delivery drivers to watch for it, although the drive back is basically sitting in the M5 for 28 miles so no bumps to test it with.

Anyway he said if the fault returns the next step is a new alternator.

Excellent, good job, enjoy that and buy a big shaped back number plate, it transforms them.

It's got a full sized plate on the back. I don't know what sort of plate they pictured the car with, probably just one with their dealer name on it, but it's definitely got a full size 'proper' Jag plate on it, just like my old Jag had.

Ah good job then :)

Now get a quick 250 quid 5 character one, i got XX XJJ for mine :)

It seems to have been intermittent, judging by the nature of the issue. There were no battery lights on when I first went to see it and had a test drive.

Well anyway I have the car now, the driver said it didn't give him any trouble on the way here and I just checked it and the light does indeed stay out, I can't fight the urge though, I have to go for a spin now, back a bit later o/ :D
