If Ibra is on a 5 year, deal, he could go back to Barca and he'd still get played, on 12mil euro's a year, whats that, 10mil squid? thats 200k a week, he's on silly money and AC will likely have to get at least pretty damn close to sign him, so thats an extra 5mil a year than almost any other player at Milan likely, which would essentially make him 20mil more than any other 20mil striker they could get.

We will pay him a flat €8.5m but performance-related bonuses could get him up to the €12m he was on at Barcelona.

Its still not a bad deal, but he did have several not great years at Inter and Juve was it, where he really wasn't scoring at the same level, and only scored a lot more, more recently in Serie A as he became, afaik, pretty much the focus of the team and in a league where the worse teams seem to be getting worse, the gap between the top and bottom of all the main leagues seems to be widening and the goal scoring is reflecting that.

Eh? The gap in Italy hasn't widened as much as you appear to think. The gap between Inter and other teams has/had but not so much for the rest of the league. In 2007-08, Inter were on the verge of surrendering the title to Roma but Inter got Ibrahimovic back from injury to score the vital goals that stopped them blowing it. Without him and Cambiasso, as strong as the Inter team was and how dominant they were, it was clear that they were lacking so much they were no better than Roma, Milan or Juventus most of the time. Moratti was smart enough to know that selling Ibrahimovic would work fine so long as he got Diego Milito from Genoa and Samuel Eto'o in exchange: a double-pronged threat.

If he scores 30 goals a year at AC he'll be worth the cash, if he flops and scores 10, then he'll have been expensive.

I'd say if he scores 20-25 he'll be worth it and 30 would be a bonus. I'd expect him to get a number of assists though.

He must perform in Europe.

THe only thing we can all be completely sure of, its a horrible horrible deal for Barca.

This. God knows how Galliani has swung this.

Konchesky was at Anfield today and Hodgson has confirmed that the only thing holding the deal up is the fact that Dalla Valle is heading the other way and still needs to complete a medical.

It's quite worrying the way in which we're shipping out any half decent youngster we can get any money for.

Although to be fair, we nearly signed him last season but something happened and it fell through. Not sure whats happening with that Kafoiuofisdf guy that we were linked with along with Dalla Valle.

We did sign Buchtmann from you, but he has left us already :/

You didn't sign him in January because Rafa rejected the ~£1m bid.

Would tie in with the fact that Roy said we werent interested in Toivenen. I dont think Cole is such a bad signing for the reported ~£6m fee or if we can swap him for Babel.

Its going to be an interesting end to the window at least. We're after another striker, but it could end up as a similar signing to Meireles, nothing heard until its a done deal, might not be after any of the current media targets.

As Borriello reportedly edges closer to joining Juventus - he looked unhappy all night and has said he will discuss his future with his agent and Milan tomorrow - Berlusconi said after our win tonight that we may yet sign another big name and the only one we've been seriously linked with is Robinho. There's a crazy report doing the rounds that Manchester City would be willing to let Robinho leave for €10m. Not sure I believe that.

Meanwhile, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar must decide where he's going. We've agreed a fee with Schalke (supposedly €12m) but now Tottenham are expressing their interest again.

Sun are claiming Utd may offer Carrick + 10m for Rodwell

Dont believe it for a second, and I also dont think Everton would go for it anyway (and didnt Rodwell sign a new contract earlier this summer?)
