white men can't jump - black men can't swim?

I think I must be going to hell, I thought it was slightly amusing that the youths jumped in to help each other even though they couldn't swim and subsequently drowned.

because basketball courts are more prevalent in these areas than swimmingpools?

its like asking why are great at football but terrible at icehockey...

because they can play 'ball' in the street with no additional equipment, it is low cost easily done. not like hockey.

It's a tough call, given that swimming is arguably a survival skill rather than just a sport like basketball.

Also, whoever complained about the names... Get over yourself. Different cultures use different names. Did you folks know some people even speak different languages? Crazy, I know.

So glad kids in this country learn to swim as part of the school curriculum. What I got reading that was not that black children in America can't swim but that a scary percentage of children in general can't - 70% of black children, but 58% of hispanic and 42% of white children are also huge numbers.
It's such a vital life skill, and not learning to swim because they're scared they'll drown? Strange logic there...
Even if children in this country aren't totally confident swimmers after finishing swimming at school, at least the majority could do enough to stop themselves from drowning if they were to find themselves in the situation these 6 kids did.

JaTavious Warner, 17, Takeitha Warner, 13, JaMarcus Warner, 14, Litrelle Stewart, 18, Latevin Stewart, 15, and LaDarius Stewart, 17, rushed to help him and each other.

What chance did these kids have anyway with names like that?

I heard someone (in the UK) went to college with a girl called L-ah, pronounced Le-dash-ah.

You know, I realise it's massively overused round here, and generally erroneously, but I'm inclined to say that comments like this are racist.

Although I agree using punctuation marks like that in words is quite weird.

Nice ninja edit vicisthebest.

Because names that are normal to you are the only acceptable ones, and stuff.

deleted it as thought it was a bit harsh in the circumstances. But did I say the names were unacceptable? Just that I didn't like them. I don't like the names Max or Chelsea either but doesn't make them unacceptable. Get a life.
