Is there a "Spider Season" ?

Are you sure?

I was always told that spiders don't like damp and having them in your house is a good sign that there isn't any damp in your house.
 
i had 2 the other day both pretty big and identical ,i also had one on my bed last month , it was only small mind you.

no matter how many windows you keep shut there is always some place that a spider will get in.
 
Definitely noticed this recently, i live in a first floor flat so normally spiders aren't a problem, i've only ever had small ones in 4 years of living here, yet in the last couple of days we've had 2 huge ones in the bedroom, they get the quick hoover treatment but it's got my wife paranoid that they're crawling around the bed at night.

Genuinely no offense intended but you sound like a complete moron with that post. Nesting isn't exclusive to birds like you imply, all animals nest in some way. Spiders often nest in dry cracks and crevices, especially near the boiler room. That's why you get so many spiders stuck in bathtubs.
 
Had a little one (1"-2") messing about on a curtain rail last night. If he stays over there and catches all those bloody moths he can stay, I may even name him. However if it comes near me it's either a glass and throw outside or a slipper, depends how tired I am :).
 
Noticed a few larger ones the past coupla weeks.
Had me wondering why the ct seemd hyper as hell all the time :D
Thing is tho he seems to puke after eating them :(

He gets filled up with treats after tho lol

I'm well aware that birds aren't the only species of animal that has some form of nest.

However, I do know a fair bit about spiders as I've kept Tarantulas, thanks to the thread Lopez started here on OCUK some eight years ago.

There are obviously all kinds of different spiders, but they don't tend to make nests. The majority of arboreal and orb weaving ones will create a web cocoon to moult in. As for ground dwelling species, they tend to put down a layer of fine silk on the ground, usually known as a 'silk mat' in order to alert them of any prey or predator that enters their area. Obviously some spiders live underground, but that's in a burrow or trapdoor.

Female spiders also tend to stay more around the area that they hang out and it's the male spiders who go wandering look for a mate. So chances are, the majority of the time when you see a spider running about your house, its probably a male... but again, depends on the species.

All I'm trying to show is that there is a common misconception that some people seem to believe that spiders all live in a big nest together, waiting to strike and breed baby spiders all over your house.

we have a spiders nest in our bath sink, every morning the little baby spiders are out, which get washed away after a shower, iv'e seen the mommy spider which i had to use a wine glass. she looked abit angry. i threw it out the window, next morning i go into the bathroom and she was in the bath again, i thought "what the heck" she ran into the bath sink, so i turned the hot tap on, apparently my fiance told me she was in the bath again. she just doesn't want to die!!

+1 for a cat. Mine loves spiders, flys, moths pretty much anything that moves and within catching range. Infact it's love of moths is a bit annoying/funny at times as it launches it self across the room with no reguard for a safe landing area (many a time the TV or a drink has been in the way)
 
whilst hoeing my planted area the other day i noticed hundreds of relatively small spiders running in the soil. noticed loads in the house too, squashed one last night on my bedroom ceiling that was very big and i'll admit i was bricking it a bit that if i missed it, it would fall on my carpet, hide and take revenge in the night. when i lived with my folks i remember taking a shower and seeing a real nasty looking one climb out from the plug hole, i tried to blast it back down with the shower head but in the end i had to jump out the shower. i didn't scream though
