Recettear!

If i hadn't of failed on 80k i might've been too :D

Well that depends if you find the demo entertaining or not for a casual game. It is a little expensive but its great fun and there are games that cost more and offer a lot less... Think of it along the lines of Trine. Was quite expensive for what it was but it was worth every penny for the joy of playing it.

Just played the demo and found it a tad boring so not my cup of tea

Going much better the second time round... just started day 16 with 20k to spare after the payment, merchant lvl9 and just got Charme and the weird Mages (who asks for ingredients) cards and a new dungeon has been discovered.

I really need to stop being so greedy. Everytime someone comes upto me and asks for an item i normally end up selecting the most expensive which they can never afford. It is annoying though when you've picked up some really expensive items (some old guy sold me some gold scales worth 25k at 10k which no one will buy for a long time...) and i tried out a couple of 'fusion' things and got a cape and necklace worth 15k that again, no one will buy for a long time.

Really? I'm 17 days in, and have had the old man(!) repetedly buy 10/15K items off me! Stick them in the window and see what happens. One thing to note is that if someone brings an item to you, they can afford at least its base price. Most of the time when this happens, I've not been willing to see how high they are willing to go/how deep their pockets are, since I have a huge chain going by then :3

Maybe it perks up more in the 3rd week, i know i did have people paying extortionate prices on my 1st attempt for price up gear that came to like 10k+. But seriously the number of Thankful Statues i've got atm is just insane, i think i had 4 people come to sell me them, everytime i simply took 3000 off the base price and bought it ><

I can't believe how oblivious i'd been to how the chain thing worked. Only finally dawned on me last night that it was per opening not per customer over time. Should be higher than lvl9 by now really...

Ive been trying to concentrate on fusion - ended up buying 30k of items just to see whats what - quite a bit of money but least it means I can generally fulfill requests. Only on Merchant level 7 on day 16 with Charme - shes frustrating me in the 3rd Dungeon, her reach makes it too easy to get hit so took her back to 2nd dungeon to get her defence up.

Fusion seems to require some of the crap items so its a balancing act between getting + versions of them aswell as a good haul to sell.

Can anyone explain the shop combo as I know its to do with selling/buying at first attempt but Im trying not to buy crap off people as it usually costs me more to sell it.

Considering 80k is needed for end of 2nd week, Im worried that items we sell now just arent valuable enough which is why Ive got into Fusion - a) to make good stuff for my Adventurers and b) to sell as they seem to have thousands of pix values usually...

ps3ud0

Oh, so many Thankful statues :(

They just keep selling them to me! Over and over! And nobody buys them :(

Shop combo is simply for selling the item on the first go. First its +2 then +8 and then it doubles each time up to +128 exp, where it stays each time. In the second or third time slots, you can easily get two or three +128exp sales, which really pumps the merchant level up.

In adition to this, there's also two pins you can get, one for getting the price very close to the buyers ideal price, which is usually between 100 and 110% markup, which also makes the customer happier, though you can usually go up to 120 or even 130 and get the sale first time, depending if you want more profit or happier customers. There's also a pin for getting the value exactly right, but that's far more luck than judgement.

Also, if you see a heart appear next to someone as you sell to them, it means their relationship has gone up, so they will be able to afford more. So selling only for a small profit will generally make them happier, their pockets will get deeper, and it earns more money in the long run. Apparently.

As for me, I've managed to unlock the third adventurer... and he's going to be rather interesting to level up.

He's the mage, don't remember his name. As you would expect, lots of magic attacks which drink the SP. however, his physical attacks retain sp, 1 for every 10 damage dealt. But his attack is slow, and only hits the square directly in front of him. I'm currently considering if its worth trying to train him up, or stick with Louie since he's never caused me any problems.

Ta for the spoiler colour - appreciated...

Not sure if I really care that much regards accelerating merchent level - I know it eventually means a bigger shop and everything, but seem to tick along nicely anyway (does the combo go over shop periods? - do they have to be consecutive?).

Im more worried currently about ensuring Ive only got high value items in the shop and getting them sold - I did recently sell a Fusion good for 18000 which was nice but the profit over base was a lot less than I normally would get. Main way Im doing that is dungeon farming and just keeping stuff thats worth over 1000pix - though with Fusion I try and make some compromises - its annoying I have to take equipment for the Adventurer, they rarely come into the shop and buy equipment I want to too - Id happily give it to them if I could as it helps me out and opens more storage while in the dungeon...

My margins Ive noticed are (from memory):

Code:
           Buy Sell

Girl 117% 45%
Old Man 123% 43%
Man 128% 42%
Woman 127% 42%
Adventurer 115% 45%
Guild 127% 42%
Girl Enemy 130% 38%

The romantic cape and azure necklace are pretty good fusion items to sell. They're the first ones I've only been able to make, except for the hat which is pretty useless.

I found a useful google spreadsheet on the Racettear wiki that confirms that!

Ive got too many Charred Lizards, Thankful Statues and bloody Powerful Antivenoms...

Oh it stays at 128? Everytime i've got that far it always seem to have ended the shopping time ><

As for the 2 bonus', i thought the +15 was for getting near to there maximum no haggle and +30 was for getting almost exactly it.

I unlocked him the same time i got Charme, (it is kinda predictable lets be honest, i can only assume the strange 'android sent back in time' guy, or so i call him(or her, i have no idea), is next). Honestly though i haven't found either of them particularly good. The mages spells are awesome but his regular attack is just hopeless and there are certain enemies (like the wasps) that he can only kill with a spell. I always end up getting killed. Charme isn't bad and her run is awesome (though has got me into trouble a couple of times) but her health is really low. Basically i've seen no reason to turn from using Louie. He thankfully bought some tier 4 items off me so i only have to supply him with a sword and he has about 70 atk/def, he may be basic but he has fairly strong stats imo, especially as you've probably been building him up since the start.

I think those values are a bit hit n miss. Especially as the price goes up they tend to lower there buy percentage. Also i swear the big bash girl only ever buys things at pretty much base price, 130% sounds way off.

But yeah it does seem accelerating the merch level, if it means a poorer sale, is worth it. Around lvl12 you get fusion lvl2 (though i've not found a use for it yet, i barely have anything it requires), more items and a larger store (1 more set of 4). I've currently just done the 80k week with 50k to spare and its now upto 200k(?!). Have to see how it goes, my record so far was, i think, day 20 with a profit of 130k. The fusions can be pretty sweet, specially that cape and necklace. I sold 2 of those necklaces during a precious metals up day which got me a pretty penny.

The 1 thing i hate is when someone comes to you to sell a 'price up' item and all you can is either pay a fortune or break your chain. You'll probably make money back either way in the end but its still a pita.

I'm currently wrestling with a hell of a game save. Yesterday and today, the price of weapons and food were down, so I spent the day adventuring, assuming they would have normalised by today. They haven't, and its sunday so the adventurers guild is closed.

Most of my stock is weapons and food, I'm not sure how best to approach it. I'm thinking buy lots of amour, books and other things that aren't reduced and fill the shelves with them, and buy lots of cheap stuff now to flog later.

As for the mage, I'm finding him pretty easy, actually. I bought the best wand available to me, then just sent him into the amber garden. Completed Lv1-5 easily. Magic attack 90% of enemies, and just bash the bombs and armour suits in. The only enemies that will cause problems are rock chuckers and the bees. If you look like you're running out of SP, you can easily bash slimes as well if needed. Though I found with careful playing I was able to gain 2 levels, and one-shot the boss. Just keep using the third attack, the machine-gun type one, as that seems to work the best and actually kill things.

Also, on that table you missed out the rival girl's fairy, she seems to have very tight margains, keeps destroying my combos :(

Thats min for her for me - shes rich and never has haggled once with me - her fairy on the other hand is cheap as a little girl...

What are you doing during the week? Ive just done week 2 with 200k spare, mech 10, only went dungeon hunting three times to fulfill orders - think worrying about merchant level is affecting your survival as the debt just will keep getting far higher.

Im just making sure to buy stuff while its down and then selling it when its normal/price up times. It also means I keep a large amount of items in case someone asks for something silly (necklace or something) or the person asking is cheap (Louie always asks for a scarf so I keep the cheap muffler on hand). Best sell has been 2 Azure Necklaces for 38k each :D

I just dont see the point in worrying about keeping my Just combo going - seems far more important just following normal economics and farming the dungeons to keep odd items or stuff for fusion...

Just pay just under 100% (deffo for adventurers) when its price up - should accept it so at least you keep the chain and when you eventually sell it its unlikely to cost you anything...

EDIT: Are you lot buying stuff off that Art bird? She has some mental starting off prices...

*wonders if i'm doing something wrong* :p Just finished week 4 with 130k spare, now the debt is upto 500k which i've no idea if i can make, but i should. I have been keeping a large stock of items since it is quite annoying when someone asks for a book and you don't have 1. Currently waiting for a high armour/weapons spike to end so i can restock. Also got a vending machine atm dispensing some of my cheaper items, though no idea if it was worth the trouble tbh...

Lol, only just run into her in the square. Guess this'll be somet to look forward to. I need to spend more time in the town ><

Edit: Seriously how do you offload this sodding treasure? Thankful Statues its not too bad anymore but i've got 4 golden scales and 3 odd vases now and they're just too expensive to flog to anyone who wants treasures and no one buys em on display.

Weird, I bought a golden scale earlier, and then resold it in the next timeslot! On the other hand, I've had the odd vase from the beginning of the game as well as all the thankful statues I've been sold just sitting in the window being ignored :(

You need to level up your customers.

If you sell them items for 104% markup, you see an extra stat, this is you gaining rep/them gaining xp. If after a sale you see a little heart, they have leveled and have gained a buying budget increase of about 10x.
The more money they have in their budget, the more likely they will buy your expensive goods.

Basically all Ive now been doing is buying when its blue and selling when its red - the profit on that is at least 400% (over 200% base price). Keep any eye on the news and also the summary Tear holds. Currently Day 28 with 330k, Merch 12...

Loving the armour/weapons spike - made a blooming mint, in 2 shop periods alone it was 80k. Not bothered with the vending machine - did get the first available flooring/wallpaper/carpet but dno if the new released stuff at Level 12 is even worthwhile...

Only gonna go in the dungeons when I want fusion items or directed to (like the Mage prompted). This gets quite boring - especially when a lot of fusion items are worth a lot but cant be bought anywhere...

Luck it seems - easiest time is when they are price upped - then sell them at just over 200%. Ive only had one of each and didnt have too much issue selling that at normal times - 26k for vase; 17k for pedestal (ahh not had the scales in yet)

Oh so thats what the heart is. I was wondering. Well most of them are fine, but only 1 customer ever wants treasures and thats the housewife and i get the feeling she hasn't levelled at all, the stingy cow. She doesn't have enough money for ANYTHING and even haggled over 121% on a sodding unthankful statue just now... it was the only treasure i could give her she could afford.

I have been. Day 33 and i had to put up with a Heavy Armour, Metals and Longswords value down right after i'd stocked up. That was a pain ><

Yeah i'm waiting to see with the 'appearance' stuff. Honestly dunno if they make a difference, aside from the possibility of a random adventurer if you were exceptionally 'dark' or something.

I like the dungeons but 20 items just isn't enough.

Still no sign of her :p

I haven't sold a single vase or scales. Not bought or seen any scales yet aside from the market, but i've bought 4 scales and 2 vases from customers (found 1 after Charme boss fight). They love paying through the nose for things like weapons and armour, hell i just put an order through with Charme for 80k for 2 weapons. But no one ever buys Treasures except that damn housewife and she has no money.

Edit: Anyway, just paid off the last 500k with 150k spare on merch lvl20. Got the 2nd shop expansion, dunno how the hell i'll manage with a small shop on a restart, currently got twice what you start with and 2 of them are window views. Think 1 of the main reasons i never have as much money spare as you did is that i'm spending tons of it on stock. Lately i've been throwing anything below 2k value into the vending machine.

Survival Mode sounds evil... but not quite as evil as Survival Hell sounds ><

I swear this game hates me. The very next day after the endgame, metal things, armour and weapons increase in value allowing me to make an easy fortune and i finally sell 1 of my Golden Scales to the old man... and the next sale is Caillou selling me his Golden Scales :(

Still no sign of her :p
Be glad - she only sells things and here starting price is 500% of base price...

She will always break your Just combo and many a time her starting off price equals all my money...

Im doing well at the moment - finding the game way too easy - day 28 (day before of 200k payment) and Ive nearly got 500k already - made 200k on this day alone :D...

EDIT: Just done the 4th week - left with nearly 400k and only got a 500k payment :D
