10.9 Cat's out today?

The problem is that the driver cleaner programmes, as has been said before, have been known to remove more than they should and cause issues.
Admittedly Driver Cleaner could be much more prone to this than Driversweeper, but blindly using one without needing to is almost asking for problems at some point.

Dirt 2 still crashes here with 10.9a, last driver that doesn't make it crash is 10.5

Driver is no good, I had CTD from BFBC2 and BSOD.

I installed on top of my 10.5.

funny, i did the same thing and no problems whatsoever with bc2...

Just goes to show how many people on here have unstable systems, likely unstable overclocks that they are blaming on drivers.

either that or they've piddled around with uninstalling/driver cleaning etc

the only time i've ever had problems with ati drivers that wasn't fixable were when i had windows xp and used driver cleaner when going from a 9800 pro to an x800xl...

Installed 10.9 over the top of 10.8 using Steam on Windows 7 64-bit and everything went fine. It didn't ask me to reboot, but I did so while installing IE9 Beta anyway. The GPU acceleration in it works great on the Test Drive, far outperforming even Opera.

I went from nVidia drivers on an 8800GTS 640MB to a 5850 with 10.4 after a simple uninstall through Control Panel, shutdown, card swap, boot, Catalyst install, and reboot.

The only issue I have with 10.9 is the PowerPlay settings still being broken. It means having to use hotkeys on my keyboard to switch profiles between Overdrive enabled and disabled.

Simple solution if your overclocking with Afterburner

1. Hit reset and save as profile 1 (idle clocks)
2. Set your overclock as save as profile 2
3. Go to options, set profile 1 as your 2D clocks, set profile 2 as your 3d clocks
4. ?????
5. PROFIT

Idle will be normal, open 3d application and you got your overclocked volts + bonus of latest drivers..

install afterburner and have that switch automatically

Dirt 2 not crashed on any driver for me - same 5970

I've tried out that fix, thanks, but don't like Afterburner. My PowerColor PCS+ 5850 can go to 875/1225 using Overdrive, which is enough of an overclock for me.

Another issue I have with the drivers is not being able to force vsync in games like Stalker. I know I can use D3DOverride, but I don't like that program either

why not, its not like you ever have to look at the program once it's set lol

It pops up a UAC warning every time I login to Windows 7. I know there's some kind of workaround for that too, but it's too much hassle

Hmmmmmmm, very strange. Dirt 2 seems to be the only game that crashes since 10.5 for me. Are you running the steam version?

Stable enough, but idle temps are 53 deg, I'm sure they were lower on 10.4 hmm..

They were, latest driver idle at higher speeds.

Some people seem to be bothered about it, but hey ho....
