Council Estates

Sounds like my street

Was fine a few months ago now new people have moved in the street. Now your lucky to enter the street with out a little yob throwing something at your car.

Can tell the kids off makes no difference and the parents won't be anything better.

Pvt Robert Foster was from my "estate"

Think before you speak

He was my friend.

Would you describe hi mas an "undesirable" or trouble maker who "made life hell for the rest of the community" who should be dumped in the army because he wasn't good enough for anything else.

or was he a professional solider who met the requirements, passed selection and did his job well.

The later is what I'm saying our armed forces is and that the people saying put the people they consider useless into the army is an insult to our soldiers.

We came from a poor area, we used to hang around on streets etc... Where do you draw the line?

Did you damage other people's property for fun, abuse people, etc?

No, we were guilty of sitting with our feet on park benches, smoking weed, being on the streets late at night, wearing hoddies etc...

The people you are describing are in the small minority, sure there may have been fights occasionaly between each other but never did we cause trouble.

The thing I noticed was a lot of stares from more mature/well off people and in my youth these may have been met with a "wot u lookin at" but in all honnesty thats not causing any harm, people just dont like confrontation and if you stare then what do you realy expect?

Edit: I appoligise for snapping Tefal I got the wrong end of the stick :)

Also on Estates they never seem to be maintained ie here 2 examples

As you can proberly see how run down it looks, I could never live on an estate like this
And he really need to move to a nicer area tbh.

So you were chavs then, you just didn't go out of your way to bother people?

Excellent thing to say to our troops eh?

Congrats lads you're all equal to the scum we scrapped off the streets.

But don't worry, while we consider them to useless and dumb to be allowed us "civilised" folk it's fine to make your lives depend on them.

I suggest that possibly a second tier force but really all we want is the discipline and respect drilled into them, some kind of national service force than the regular army can recruit the cream of the crop. The remaining could be used for non combative tasks but still doing the country some service.

border patrols
Humanitarian aid support across the globe
disaster support
security at public events
etc etc

The usage is endless and at the end of a set term you have hopefully instilled a sense of discipline, self worth and pride in our once great country. There are loads of countries that still have national service I never understood why we scrapped it.

Civil liberties, the abuse charges and the suicides mainly.

That and it's expensive.

for

security at public events

all that yeah.

Not to mention the extra policing required to round up deserters.

oh and

security at public events

So you think you'll change these people completely?

Yeah I suppose we were, the same way everyone on here is a Internet porn loving geek?

The way we chose to spend our time was not causing any harm to anyone, does a hoodie and hanging around in groups make us violent? We could be classed as Chavs but dosent mean we have no morals.

Actual this has made me remember one night we were walking down a cycle track and saw an old man get pulled over by his dog, I suppose we didn't do the Stereotype any favours by helping him and and seeing he was ok. Perhaps we should have stuck the boot in and nicked his wallet... The mail would have been more happy

That would have been pretty funny actually.

You seem to have quite an active imagination, as you seem to like adding bits on to what people have said. I didn't have to use my imagination and expand on what you'd said to come up with a conclusion, I simply read what you wrote, and noticed it was very chav-like behavior, especially:

No, we were guilty of sitting with our feet on park benches, smoking weed, being on the streets late at night, wearing hoddies etc...
