****Official Fallout New Vegas Thread****

I've got to stop playing this, got work tomorrow but thought i'd post and say after having no clue what I was doing I've now got well into this and got past Primm, and now I'm at some large T Rex... lol The game is so interesting, so much to see and do...

I've realised that the game can't be played like a FPS run and gun. It has a lot more to it then this.... Well i think it does, i've worked out this HP and XP stuff, and I'm now at level 4 and worked out that caps is actually some post apocalyptic money.. lol

this is an excellent game I feel, but i've never played any fallout games before, so I'm not going on any previous games... therefore comments like it feels like an expansion pack mean nothing to me, its all new to me.. :p

Despite it crashing twice already on me, I'm still having a good time. Without spoiling too much, I came to a part where I was warned there were deathclaws ahead, but I still thought I could sneak past them.

It ended badly :(

Maybe I should take a rest from this. Been playing it non-stop since I got it and I'm now at level 22. :o Certainly better than FO3, so much more interesting.

Got to say, the best gun on the game for me is the sniper rifle, (read spoiler for the name) with the better ammo. Lots of one shot kills. I use it for running and gunning too. :p

*SPOILER*

Gobi Campaign scout rifle, which is found in only one location. You also need 100 lock to get it.

Got a sweet Hunting Rifle now, took a while to find one :)

Still not got to the strip, and 20 hours in, level 14 I think :) Been doing side quests at Mcarron Base.

One question though, the NCR like me a lot, and Ammo boxes etc still appear red, will I get busted if I nick stuff, or will it just affect my Karma?

It depends if they can see you nicking stuff. Red means you will loose carma. I,m around the same time and have been nicking everything from everyone....:D

I have some fancy Plasma gun that kills most things with one shot...

Oh forgot, got a nice laser rifle with a sight mod, really accurate now, great for picking off fiends from afar :)

Cheers Moogleys, I will start nicking stuff :)

Found my first glitch last night, quite funny but worked in my favour.

***SPOILERS***

After cheesing the Legion off at Nipton I got the quest from Boxcar to rescue the slaves out east. There's 5 Legion members who are hard as coffin nails (I'm at level 7), so used a nearby trade caravan to keep them occupied but only took one of them out. Used a stealth boy, and snuck up behind them whilst they were calm. Sneaky live grenade in one of their pockets and legged it off to rescue the slaves. Went back to Boxcar, got nothing out of him so took his head off in frustration as it took me ages to rescue the slaves - and I get positive karma! Don't get it!

Oh and the quest in the dino at Novac made me LOL at 12.30am this morning. I got the right person, but would love to hear the results if someone put someone else on the spot!

*** /SPOILERS ****

Loving this game, I remember the overwhelming feeling of enormity from FO3 and it's back with this game. Those who keep saying "this game is too short" really have missed the point, it's not a run and gun FPS - it's an RPG! You really do start as a nobody with no skills, levelling up and exploration is the name of this game. Not bowling into a room with nothing and expecting to walk out the victor. Can't wait to get home tonight to give this another go. :)

I still cant work it out? care to explain?

this is how i play caravan:-

only choose the minimum 30 cards

i use kings, jacks, 10's, 9's, 8's, 6's, 4's and 2's (4's and 2's to make the numbers up but also as they add to 6 for my 3rd pile)

ditch cards until i have at least two 10's and a 9 (or two 9's and a 10) to put down first along with a couple of kings and a 6 and 8 and maybe a jack.

pile 1 = 10 + 6, then a king on the 10 to double it and make 26
pile 2 = 9 + 8, then a king on the 9 to double it and make 26
pile 3 = 10 (play this pile from available cards, if the 2 piles of 26 dont let you win straight away)

dont forget to put jacks on your opponents pile if they get anywhere near 26.

I'm playing as a good guy, but cleaned out an energy weapons store yesterday :D

Couldn't resist.

I did the exact same thing, I saw all the prices on the kit... Ran into the toilet and stuck my Stealth Boy on :D

It's taking a long time to get it all sold because the traders have limited money, but I'm quids in. Might get hold of a few more Stealth Boys and make it a weekly thing. **** karma!

I always play these games as a fundamentally good person with kleptomaniac tendencies.

Anyone who's ordered from play.com know how their pre-order bonuses work? No email, no card as far as I could tell.

Same here. I e-mailed about it Friday afternoon but haven't heard anything back.
Some leather armour and a shotgun would have been useful at the start, but it's just extra stuff to sell or lug around now
