UEFA Champions League/Europa League 2010/11 Matchday 4 *** Spoilers ***

Ruud Gullit is such a penis, comparing A.Cole to G.Bale...

Ruud, whilst Bale has as you say, a better delivery, Cole is a full back..

Bale could only dream of being as good as good defensively as Cole. Regardless they shouldn't be compared, one is a full back, one is a winger. Bale played as a full back is a waste of talent.

anything I say will be perceived as being narky here. but sod it.

Bale put in a pretty immense performance but as I was watching through my laptop it seemed that Inter set themselves up on a plate for him, it was an inept defensive display down the flank and he's going to have to learn to overcome far better organised defences than that over the coming months as people start to get to grips with his style.

Saying that he's improved immensely, has bags of talent and has shown he's got the personality to show it on the big stage.

I thought the same to be honest. They kept on going on about how was skinning one of the best full backs in the world, yet every single time he did he did the exact same thing. Hoof it around him, run like a mother******, get ball on the other side. Why did Maicon not learn? I mean it was bad enough Inter let him score 3 identical goals last game. Either they're really bad at learning from their mistakes or he's doing some good double bluffing we can't see.

Ah, the warming glow of jealousy.

Come, bask in it's glowing warm warming glow.

he's only being fair. you play someone in a rich vein of form like Bale and you focus on not allowing them to play to his strengths. A far less experienced right back than Maicon kept him quiet on the weekend simply by showing some tactical discipline. Inter ballsed up. That's not a criticism of Bale though, it's just realism.

Bale is Ronaldo without the (sometimes) useless tricks. Sort of :p

I can see where Adrianr is coming from, for example at the weekend, he did nothing because Rafael took him out of the game. Maicon just made a mess of things which didn't help.

Bale was clearly resting for today.

;)

Wow. Someone was excited to be playing...

I'm a chelsea fan but have to say that Bale has been absolutely incredible in the last two games against inter! He's made Maicon look like a complete amateur.

Can't remember which United supporter said that Bale was nothing compared to Nani going forward but he's putting in the kind of performances Nani can only dream of. Bale is world class.

Nickg

(I was the one suggesting Bale was already near to world -class, but that was before his non-show at the weekend :D. Been a supporter of Bale's since Southampton days :), gutted when Fergie lost out to Spurs for that transfer)

Unless a team of Real Madrid or Barca's stature come in for him, Gareth Bale wont be going anywhere - he wont play every week at any other top 4 club here in the EL and will only go abroad - as those opportunities dont come round so often. I think anybody would find it hard to turn down Real

Complete presumtion - Nani prefers the right and Utd desperately need a decent winger on the left (who can defend) and even with Nani's experience Bale is still a better defender, and more than likely a better crosser too

Nani is getting better, but I still reckon Bale would step into the Utd 1st team straight away without too muich anxiety (the only unknown is whether Bale could handle the OT pressure, but I dont see that being an issue), and Nani/Valencia (when he recovers) would fight it out for the right wing slot

Not suggesting for a second Utd (or anyone else) will ever get him, but Spurs HAVE to keep on qualifying for the CL over and over to keep hold of him long term I would have though

edit - I havent seen the match, but the BBC txt is suggesting that Bale's control of the ball went wide briefly but wasnt caught by an official in the lead up to the first goal........
