UEFA Champions League/Europa League 2010/11 Matchday 4 *** Spoilers ***

I thought the same to be honest. They kept on going on about how was skinning one of the best full backs in the world, yet every single time he did he did the exact same thing. Hoof it around him, run like a mother******, get ball on the other side. Why did Maicon not learn? I mean it was bad enough Inter let him score 3 identical goals last game. Either they're really bad at learning from their mistakes or he's doing some good double bluffing we can't see.

Have to agree yet also, the fact is Lucio, a world class and one of the best CB's of the past decade ran TOWARDS him, wtf, Lucio should have been backpedalling and picking up pace to match Bale, he did that in the first half and prevented the cross going in, stepping up was complete suicide, likewise, how many times did Bale right on the line have Maicon just inside, slow down a bit then continue straight down the wing, and every time Maicon, who seems kinda fast, just couldn't work out he was going to use his pace down the outside, I mean, its basically all Bale does?

Bale really didn't do anything special, he doesn't step over, he doesn't fool the players, he does the same thing pretty much every time and not a one of them read it.

Also remember though that Maicon is FAR from the worlds best right back, along with Alves and a couple others he's known for his attacking instead of his defence, which frankly isn't that good.

Also if you've ever seen a Mourinho team(who hasn't) Inter are solid defensively when they basically play 4-6-0 then break every now and then when the other teams tired. They aren't dominating the league already and showed how defensively weak they were in Europe previously.

Bale does well for sure, has very good running strength but they played into his hands perfectly all game long.

Rafael really isn't particularly great, but the two right sided players for Utd made it far easier to contain him, Bales had really 3 great games this season, 2 pretty anonymous games between the two Inter games.

Its odd, not once did anyone decide to double up on Bale, why not, not once did they decide Maicon would spend a game in his own half more than the opposition half, again why not, why did Samuel start alongside Lucio when they conceded all three in the first game after he came on, rather than put on a younger CB who started the first game? Just awful management frankly, even if the first game you MIGHT be forgiven for thinking the game was over and making changes for it almost to fall apart, Benitez had no excuse for tonight, he knew the main threat and utterly utterly ignored it start to finish.

Inter don't have all the best defenders in the world, infact really just one of them, they defended as a UNIT fantastically though, that unit isn't defending the same so Inter are falling apart, their attack has been so stunted for 3 years its not working well enough to survive conceding so much.

I can't believe a so called great manager, even though I have zero respect for Benitez, failed to make a single tactical decision in any way to deal with Bale, its laughable.

Didn't help that Sneijder was utterly crap, his movement was poor, his passing was poor, he refused to run with the ball, got a pass stood still until he saw someone to pass to, his shooting was woeful, corners/freekicks poor, only got one on target but it was slow and Cudicini would have saved it had it been in the corner it was so slow.

Good win, not gifted to them, but weren't really worked hard for it.

Nani - 8 assists and 4 goals this season in the PL (811 minutes)

Bale - 1 assist and 2 goals this season in the PL (900 minutes)

Easy on the Bale > Nani front.

Also that stat doesnt indicate age/experience differential which is heavily in Nani's favour

Is that a comment to help Nani or Bale?

Last time I checked, having more experience made you a better player.

So that's another argument against the Bale > Nani suggestions in this thread.

Since when has Rafa been considered a great manager? Bar from a few Reds for that memorable night in Istanbul, he is a laughing stock. It would have been a different game with Jose who IS a great manager in charge.

I mostly just browse these forums but Drunkenmaster you must be the most negative person here, you seem unwilling to give anyone any credit when they do something good. Even with your own team Arsenal you seem to pick individuals to pieces minutes after a game instead of basking in their glory like the City game for example.

I would have thought even the most hardened Gunner fan would admit Bale was class today.

No it just indicates effectiveness. Or Did you weight age/experience when blathering on about Hargreaves effectiveness? You've a blatant blindfold when it comes to Nani.

I don't know why this has turned into the debate though, good performance fr Bale and he's coming on leaps and bounds.

Bale is basically a left sided Valencia, not too many tricks but very direct and full of running. I do like his style but teams will look after him far better than Inter did.

what is wrong with people, Bale is ace, what a player, to be honest, if you watch Bale play in other games, he plays the same, he's brilliant but sometimes the strikers (mainly Crouch) let his stats down by not doing their jobs, score)

Bale statistically would have more assists if it wasn't for the wasteful Crouch, anyhow, can't wait for our first team players to come back, Defoe, Gomes, Dawson, King.

3 - 1 against Inter without 4 of our first team regulars, Plus Jenas played for a long time in the game :D (to be fair he did ok)
