About discussing it?

Nah, I'm sure that its well within a persons ability to simply wait for a few days until its aired to discuss it, unless they have some sort of tourettes where they simply MUST type their thoughts onto a keyboard immediately :D

I'm not familiar with the comic book, is it a short series of novels or is there sufficient length in them that further tv series would be feasible?

True, but I guess on other more international UK forums that sort of rule wouldn't be wise.

I personally think the subject matter is good enough to get at least two good seasons out of it. I'd hope for more, but with this sort of thing it is either hit or miss. I expect it will only follow the comic book to start with and then when they run out of material they will start writing fresh material.

Well that's the beauty of the internet , there is always a forum somewhere where a person can discuss whatever they want :)

Good to know that there is enough original material to make more.

I'm amazed by this! I really didn't expect people to take to it straight away, and the fact it's beating Mad Men and Breaking Bad bodes well for a 2nd series.

Come on Saturday....

It's up to issue 80 odd, so there's quite a lot of material to plunder!

Not really, it is the first episode that aired on halloween as part of a special "Fearfest" series of programs. Anything like this on halloween is bound to do well. If the ratings continue to be strong then it has a chance for a 2nd series.

It was actually a fear fest for the entire week leading up to it, everytime I put on AMC they had some random horror film playing. Meant there was always soemthing to watch at least!

The ratings are good news either way.
 
Indeed, it has given it one of the best starts possible, but you can't expect the ratings for the pilot on a day like halloween to mean anything much. If the ratings remain strong for the rest of the season however, then it has a good chance of a second and maybe third season.

I for one hope it shapes up to be the series that matches the quality of the source material. Problem these days as so many good tv series get cancelled regardless of how good they are, all down to ratings in the US unfortunately.

AMC is one of the better networks for the show to be on though - they're more about quality (of the show) rather than quantity (of viewers).

Unlike, say.. Fox, who cancel everything.

It's a shame thats not going to change anytime soon :( , espcially when it's the networks that foot the bill for allot of shows. You see it far to often where shows might have a strong following and popularity, but poor live ratings, as thats what goes into the networks pocket. No profit, no more episodes :(.

Tv nowadays is a minefield of profit and loss. Put a show on at the wrong time of day, or the wrong day of the week when it's up against ovewhelming competition and it can be game over. It's so much about strategy to grab those much needed ratings.

That being said, this looks like it could do well :). Although i'd expect the ratings for the second episode to drop considerably, pilots are usually high in viewing figures.

This show has been sold to around 140 networks around the world. Even if AMC don't get the ratings they want in the US if they get enough orders from around the world they could bankroll another series quite easily.

Oh and first ep is awesome!

not necessary, typically a lot people are out on Halloween not in watching telly.

Also it was a sweeps week for ratings so for it to get a spot then as an untested show is pretty good.
