*** The 2010 Gym Rats Thread ***

Had a surprising deadlift session today! Was planning on doing 130kgx5 (4 sets) followed by 135kg x5 for 1 set.

Did 130kg x 5 x 4 sets and then went a bit mad and put it up to 150kg. :O Imagine my surprise when I picked it up for 2 quite easy reps! New PB!

First session HIIT on the rower for the first time since March!

5 minute warm up and then 10 sprints of a 20s/40s split. Hitting high 1:20's/500m and low 1:30's/500m then a nice relaxing warm down for a further 5. Canny complain with that for first session of HIIT in over 6 months.

A spartan gym on an industrial estate in watford and it's £45 a month!

Wait wut.

That's a lot of moneys. More than private gyms here (LA fitness) though I suppose it is better for what you want/need. *hugs £40/year uni gym membership*.

How long do you spend doing the HIIT after the initial warm up? For some reason since getting my own rower months ago I still haven't tried HIIT, and that's the whole reason I got it!

9 miles in 20 minutes and you're complaining? Move to London and you'll realise that's travelling at lightspeed compared to most of the time driving round here... :p

Looks like quite a decent gym in terms of what they've got in equipment.

Hopefully when this current job finishes if I end up working over in Watford then I'll most likely have my membership there.

I spent 10 minutes total doing 20s/40s sprint/recovery. However on my cut I used to spend 2 minutes warming up and then 20 minutes doing a mixture of 20/40, 30/30, 15/45.

It's good and time really does fly when you're doing it. Least boring kind of cardio I know of along with circuits!

Edit: Found somewhere that I can PT for £45 per month rent (£540 for the year) and then £5 ontop of that per client :) They don't even need to be members there its basically their admission :D

I think I might do some cardio to show the nob end who said its easy to get massive but ZOMG IMPOSSIBLEZ to get ripped like "rico" I'll do it and get "ripped" easy peasy.

Cheers buddy. I'll give that a go tonight then I reckon, though I doubt I'll last the full 10 minutes!

I'm going for a new pb on deadlift today. Should hopefully get 162.5kg but I did an easy 2x2 155 last week so today should be fine.

I've got my cardio day tomorrow, planning to do 3x10mins steady state peices, holding it around 2:00 - 2:10 with 5min rest. It's gunna hurt :(

Saw a muppet in the gym today trying to show these other guys what to do, bout 8 guys across the bench press admiring his 40kg bench =/. Then he was showing off his 70kg seated calf raise which he didn't even take the lever off for! (therefore doing only the positive part of the motion basically). I was umming and aaing wether to call him out on it, I didnt but I regret that decision.

anyways did shoulders/biceps today, Hang clean to push press 55kg for 5 :) and military press 50kg for 5. Should have 60kg HC2PP quite easily next week.
