COD Black Ops looks pretty good on PC

The more I play Black Ops, the more I want to to go and play MW1 & 2. Something about BO that just isn't right...

Can someone very very very slowly explain to me why one should prestige just to unlock a character slot? Five slots not enough?

This. I just tried it and it makes no difference.

I just tried a game, joined a server and played a while, alt-tabbed out during it and it was using 670MB. I know MW2 uses around 1.5GB of RAM for me and the 'sysMB' setting is 2048.


Can people with the severe performance issues/choppyness say what kinda CPU they have as some are wondering if its a common issue with 45nm wolfdale/yorkfield i.e. intel E8x00 and Q9xxx series tho I seem to remember people with AMD and i7 CPUs also complaining.

I have a Q6600 and have performance issues although most of the time it is 'mostly somewhat' smooth. However some servers I join are EXTREMELY jerky, like it pauses for half a second, once every second. I've mentioned it to the other players and they've gone yeah, it is really bad. I join another server and it's back to normal.

Yesterday I played on a server which was 'smooth' (as smooth as it ever gets) and at times it would go into slideshow mode for maybe 30 seconds, and other players were commenting on it. And then it would revert back to normal.

Five slots is enough but more is better. You want to have classes for every eventuality in-game.

Also it is a good way of showing your fellow players that you have too much time on your hands :) :D
 
Not sure if anyone else has tried it, but I made the leap into the gondola and back safely this evening. Just thought I would share...:p (Yes, I am claiming ownership of this one lol)

Really enjoying the game so far. SP was excellent, great story!

MP seems really nice too, seem to be prefering the HC modes of the game over the standard ones. As the problem im finding is that i need to empty next to a whole mag into somebody to kill them, which to me just doesnt make sence, much prefer the idea that a couple of shots kills.
Also seems to make your killstreaks much more valuble, especially the spyplane and the like!

Not having any performance issues anymore, which is nice,
Q6600/4GB/GTX460 is what im running with.

Overall, awesome game, very addictive, quite fun on PC, much prefer having a mouse to shoot with rather than a control pad! First FPS online since Duke Nukem, so took quite a while getting used to!

Its TFU policy that we will kick random players from the server to make room for members. We try not to kick people who sport the OCUK tag. if you were wearing the [HAX] tag then its possible you were kicked to make room for a member. Why you would be banned after this I don't know.

My system runs this game very comfortably at max settings but for some reason my Frame Per Second seems to be capped at 60. I say this because FRAPS gets to 60 instantly as a game starts and just stays there at 60. Is there a command to increase it? Cheers.

If you've got vsync turned on in the settings/graphics then it caps the FPS. I get 75 with it on and upto 125 with it off, but the tearing is awful so I leave it on.

Thanks, ill check this when I get home tonight. Will prob leave it as it as i think, i can't complain with a very stable 60fps.

I can tell you why he was banned.... you're only the 3rd person i've banned across all our games

When you come on acting a **** to people, flick shooting every shot and wearing the tag [HaX] what did you expect to happen? If it were up to me I’d not let anyone wearing a [HaX] tag on ANY of our servers, it gets peoples backs up, especially when your pulling off some of the crap you were! That said we wouldn’t have banned you for your suspect shots, it was your attitude toward other members and players on the server…. We kicked you 3 times that day for the way you were acting..... I came on and witnessed what you like, mentioned it in mumble and every1 said the same!! Our server is busy enough and we’d rather keep it a friendly anti rage server.

As I’ve said you can appeal the ban by going to our website, however there are 10150 servers out there I’m sure you’ll find another.

We like to keep our servers clean, we don’t actually kick people with out first waiting for a spot to come up. I’ve told you all countless times if you have OcUK in your name then you wont be kicked to make room… the beauty of COD is you can change your steam name at anytime!!
 
Started playing this recently. never really played many FPS's on PC before but im loving this one. Its really enjoyable. However some servers are still suffering with slow down and lag. I just think game servers cannot cope with the peak demand at times.

Well I have two load outs really.

AK47U and the Commando.

AK47U - Anti Air
AK47U - noob tube set up
AK47U - stealth set up
AK47U - Grip/Rapid fire set up

Then basically the same for the Commando.

It's not too hard to prestige. I hit my 30 hours gaming time achievement last night and I'm prestige 2 - level 32 I think.

Have had some weird bugs. I lost 7 levels one night :/

Think I've now been banned from 5 servers due to "Hacking." lol.
