I have recently been promoted at work and have a new job. My current commute is 1.5 hours each way currently (door to door) making 3 hours total a day.

With a 48 week year that works out at 30 days a year

My new commute is 10 mins each way making a total of 3.33 days.

I have just got back 26.6 days of my life each year, thats 7% of the year. :D

Nice, that's definitely going to make you happier in all aspects of life i think. I currently live 30 minutes from work which is great being able to wake up an hour before work starts.

At the moment I am up at 5.30 and out of the house for 6 to be at work by 8... then about 1 1/2 hours home... So currently around 3 1/2 hours worst case.
Should be doing the first part of my bike test at the weekend and getting a commuter bike after Christmas, which will save me a lot of cash weekly on fuel and give me back easilly an hour a day from my commute.

LOL Magnolia - Try living up in the wastes of Kaukapakapa and coming down the Northern each morning into parnell - went all the way round and in via the NW this morning to avoid the bridge

Door to Door = 50mins, × 2 = 1hr 40mins. I go to Uni, and a 50min journey consists of a Bus, Train, Bus. Although commute would take longer for all I presume, due to the snowfall.

If i'm lucky 40min door to door. Half of that is walk and the other is on the tram. Don't mind walking and I read book on the tram.
Planning to move closer to work after winter, part of me doesn't want to because I don't read much at home but it will save me over £1k a year.

takes me about half an hour to walk in to uni, so that's about an hour a day.

not too bad at all.

the freezing cold's a bit of a *******, but that's the price we pay eh?

Take into account that you have gained 2:40 out of your waking hours assuming you've kept your sleep to the same number of hours. If you sleep for 7 hours a day that leaves 17 waking hours, which means you've gained 15.7% of your day. :D

I hate long commutes as well.

I will try to sleep for the same amount, I will probably just go to bed an hour later. :)

I'm thinking about buying a house that is within walking distance of my current office. However I have also applied for a job at another office 45 minutes away. I'll end up driving past my current place to reach my new job if I get it :(

1.6 miles. So around 4-6 minutes? :p

Out the door de-icing the car at 7:00. Off the drive by 5 past. Parked up and at my desk with the heater blasting my feet by 7:15.

On average, 30minutes each way, but if the M60 is a pain which it invariably is, it can take a lot longer. The M62 between 11 and 12 can be slow too.
