Commuting - How much time do you spend?

Can vary hugely (by percentage).

Good day - 4 minutes. Bad day - 6 minutes. Depends if the lift at work is out of order/stops at every floor.

I really don't miss sitting in traffic in the car. One little bit.

5 min walk from home to train station, 15 min train journey and 5 min from other train station to work so 50 minutes a day total.

I think with any job the commute to pay ratio is important.

If you are travelling anything over 30-45mins a day each way and the pay stinks, it isn't good.

Leave house 7:15am, train at 7:35am, bus at 8:45am, at work for 9am.
Leave work 5:10pm, bus at 5:20pm, train at 5:45pm, home for 7:10pm.

Just under 4hrs total a day. Yes, it sucks, but it's only for 3months, and then my base location is changing and it'll be 15mins walk each way :)

For decades I've been preaching that your pay per hour should not only be divided by the hours you work but how long you spend travelling.
I worked with 2 guys who were on £9/hour but when you took travelling/petrol into account they were on £4.50/hour.
My working day starts when I leave the house to when I get home but luckily it's a 10 minute journey.

My normal commute is ~40mins door to door through a combination of walking, tram and train.

I used to commute 1 hour via two trains where if I didn't make the 4min connection between them it immediately became 1.5hrs each way.

I was glad when I got my current commute, a lot less stressful.
