IRA bomb day I'm guessing...
Yes, wow it was really 14 years ago. Cliché but seems like a different age now. Can certainly remember being more worried by the IRA than the current crop of idiots trying to blow us up
IRA bomb day I'm guessing...
The biggest one I can remember is my ex sending me some pics of an owl, and the same night on my way home from work on my bike, an owl was just stood in the middle of the road. It didn't move until I had rode around it.
I didn't even want to tell her as I thought she would think I was talking ****.
Probably not the most notable of coincidences but it's the first that springs to mind:
The gf and I flew out to Turkey in September from Gatwick. We landed, went through immigration etc, found our transfer bus and sat down ready for the journey. We were joined by a small family; mum, dad and daughter.
We got chatting and told them how we'd been recommended the hotel by the manager of our local travel agents, as she'd just come back from holidaying there herself. "Oh not Sarah from Thomas Cook in Southampton?" asked the mum...and it wasSarah had sold us both our holidays and it turns out the family were from the same part of Southampton as us. That was coincidence number one.
We see the family around the hotel and exchange a bit of small talk about how nice the hotel is etc, then on the last day we end up sitting right next to them on the beach. We get talking again and after exchanging surnames we discover that not only do the mum and dad know my gf's parents quite well, but my gf's brother is "seeing" their daughter!
It really is a small world sometimes, you never quite know who you're going to bump into and where!
I read that at 23:37...![]()
i dropped the remote down the back of the sofa and found a fork
There was a period a year or two ago whereby everytime I looked at the time it would be XX:37.
I've had similar to the XX:37 thing, except I have a habit of catching the new minute (like xx:xx:58 xx:xx:59 xx:xx:00)
She wasn't allowed to go, in the end (parents, she was 16 then), but I went along anyway, crashed at a friend's, and decided to go to Croydon the next day, purely out of interest as I knew she lived vaguely near there. Spent a while wandering about (lovely place), then just walked right past each other in the street.

In the year 2000 my family and I were due to fly back from Barbados on a special weekly chartered Concorde flight. Two weeks before the holiday the Air France Concorde crashed. BA didn't ground their fleet until 3 days before we were due to fly back from Barbados.
BA flew us home business class and offered the whole family free 1st Class return flights anywhere in the world. We choose New York, and in late August 2001 we went for a week. We got home on September the 5th 2001, having spent the last night at the Windows On The World restaurant.
The Concorde crash directly allowed us to see the World Trade Center, one week before it was destroyed.
Obviously this is just chance and a big coincidence. But it's probably the most notable of my life.
What's yours?
Was on my way to College and my friend and I were talking about stuff happening on the news including a hostage situation.
We got off a train and some nice fellow decided to take us hostage! \o/
That was a fun day!
