Coincidences!

IRA bomb day I'm guessing...

Yes, wow it was really 14 years ago. Cliché but seems like a different age now. Can certainly remember being more worried by the IRA than the current crop of idiots trying to blow us up

Probably not the most notable of coincidences but it's the first that springs to mind:

The gf and I flew out to Turkey in September from Gatwick. We landed, went through immigration etc, found our transfer bus and sat down ready for the journey. We were joined by a small family; mum, dad and daughter.

We got chatting and told them how we'd been recommended the hotel by the manager of our local travel agents, as she'd just come back from holidaying there herself. "Oh not Sarah from Thomas Cook in Southampton?" asked the mum...and it was :) Sarah had sold us both our holidays and it turns out the family were from the same part of Southampton as us. That was coincidence number one.

We see the family around the hotel and exchange a bit of small talk about how nice the hotel is etc, then on the last day we end up sitting right next to them on the beach. We get talking again and after exchanging surnames we discover that not only do the mum and dad know my gf's parents quite well, but my gf's brother is "seeing" their daughter!

It really is a small world sometimes, you never quite know who you're going to bump into and where!

The biggest one I can remember is my ex sending me some pics of an owl, and the same night on my way home from work on my bike, an owl was just stood in the middle of the road. It didn't move until I had rode around it.

I didn't even want to tell her as I thought she would think I was talking ****.

she was the owl ? owl pics sent were the nude version of her ? she was flashing you on your way home ?

anyway just fap to them regardless
This is GD and we don't judge.

just to join in....the first 20p i ever saw was the one i found. :p

My sister has met two different people she knows on holiday, very odd considering we were in different countries.

Also on one of our ski trips a person died (hadn't met them and completely unrelated to our trip/company/hotel etc) but the grapevine told us they were from the same town as us, which was odd to beegin with. I then mentioned this to someone at home and it turned out to be the son of one of their friends...Odd again.

Other than that no "coincidences" I can think of at the moment, other than my ex and I buying each other exactly the same birthday present, then filling each others christmas stockings with almost identical things...:/

I don't really get what the coincidence is in the OP.

I've got a few.

Last week I bought gig tickets off a random person on Facebook. After chatting with her on the phone it transpired that she had bought something from one of my websites last year.

My friends (from Scotland) were on a golf holiday in Florida. They went in to a bar and on the wall was a picture of another friend who plays football for an obscure Scottish 1st division side. It turned out that his girlfriends Dad had some ownership of the bar.

Last year I noticed a girl on my friend's Facebook who I used to work with but lived on the other side of town. I asked my friend how she knew her and they met in AUSTRALIA. :D

My biggest (and soppiest, be warned) are both from back in 2005. I'd broken up with my girlfriend, as we were both off on our gap years - her to China to teach, and me to SE Asia to bum around, and were headed to uni hundreds of miles apart the next year.

Anyway, before I left, I'd arranged to go to a gig in London with this girl I'd known on the internet for years, but not met. She wasn't allowed to go, in the end (parents, she was 16 then), but I went along anyway, crashed at a friend's, and decided to go to Croydon the next day, purely out of interest as I knew she lived vaguely near there. Spent a while wandering about (lovely place :p), then just walked right past each other in the street. Awkward moment of walking past, turning back, and raised eyebrows. Turns out it was a one off afternoon that she was let off school early for some reason. Got together for a while after that, nothing serious, then I headed away.

So, I went off travelling, started to miss my old (previous) girlfriend after a while, as I kind of expected. A few months in, I got mugged and ended up going back to Bangkok to a hospital, planning to change my tickets and fly home. I'd emailed all my friends to let them know, including my ex, as we still included each other in group messages. The day I went to the STA office there was some sort of national holiday, so I couldn't, and that evening I got an email from my ex inviting me to stay with her in China for a bit to get back on my feet. Got a ticket there instead, got back together, and now living together 5 years on :) Hurrah for Thai public holidays!

Quite a few times I've been thinking of somebody I hadn't seen for quite a long time only to turn a corner and bump into them

There was a period a year or two ago whereby everytime I looked at the time it would be XX:37.

I've had similar to the XX:37 thing, except I have a habit of catching the new minute (like xx:xx:58 xx:xx:59 xx:xx:00)

I had with this the time 13:37 for a while.

Of course, it's less that you're checking at these times more freqently and more that the pattern is self-reinforcing; you think you're seeing one and so do.

! STALKER ALERT !

I'm fairly well known for my lack of interest in...extra-curricular activities with women. I'm the guy who goes to bars and clubs because they have bars. This ended up in a really poor in-joke between us whereby i'd be asked if I'd pulled the previous night, and i'd always reply with "What do you think? Does it look like the sky is falling to you?"

So one night after not sleeping for a few days again, and getting pretty drunk, I did end up kissing some girl. At the very same second, the heaven's opened and drenched everyone through in seconds; a full on storm.

I was so sleep-deprived and drunk I legitimately thought i'd broken time for a minute.

In the year 2000 my family and I were due to fly back from Barbados on a special weekly chartered Concorde flight. Two weeks before the holiday the Air France Concorde crashed. BA didn't ground their fleet until 3 days before we were due to fly back from Barbados.

BA flew us home business class and offered the whole family free 1st Class return flights anywhere in the world. We choose New York, and in late August 2001 we went for a week. We got home on September the 5th 2001, having spent the last night at the Windows On The World restaurant.

The Concorde crash directly allowed us to see the World Trade Center, one week before it was destroyed.

Obviously this is just chance and a big coincidence. But it's probably the most notable of my life.

What's yours?

A school friend of mine had a meeting on the 101st floor of the WTC on the morning of Sept 11 but overslept by an hour.

Was on my way to College and my friend and I were talking about stuff happening on the news including a hostage situation.

We got off a train and some nice fellow decided to take us hostage! \o/

That was a fun day!

Whoah, more details please. That must have been horrible

After driving across the world we didn't see another English person, English Car or speak to anyone who could speak English better than hello for about 9days. We got pulled over by the police in Kazakhstan and as we were trying to communicate about what we were doing they pulled over another English car on the same Rally as us. Ended up convoying with them for a few days and meeting up at our destination for beers! Plus they were both top blokes who made our trip even more brilliant.

Even more of a coincidence as they went a totally different route through different countries to us from the moment we left the start of the rally in London 2 weeks earlier.
