*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

It has finished downloading. I pressed yes to install, it rebooted and now I have a white warning triangle with an exlaimation mark and a little green Android dude! Going to power off...

Rebooted and tried the backup this time and the same thing?! Am I wasting my time with ROM manager? Should I be doing things through ClockworkMod recovery instead?

By using AmonRA recovery. And this is why I keep saying and linking to AmonRA every now and then because it's much better!

New Thread?

I wonder if its time for a NEW thread. This one is huge and TBH unwieldy for new users. Maybe if one of our Desire gurus (yes, that means YOU Robbie) could work on a FAQ or master post we could have a new "HTC Desire Users Thread" where the first post could be kept current with links and info?

Just an idea... Robbie ;)

Hmmm,

If the mods are happy to then the rooting thread I created could be name changed to Desire rooting/modding thread since it is more Desire focused although the rooting side via unrevoked does apply to other handsets too.

Would save lots of time!

Last night I was working a night shift and was listening to music from my phone.

Over 5 hours the phone must have randomly restarted 6-8 times, for no reason whatsoever. It couldn't access the internet after, the widgets were not displaying correctly and I think thats all the problems I had.

This is running AuraxTsense 8.0, is Leedroid a sense based ROM?

Yes Leedroid is based on the FroYo Sense rom.

Agreed! AmonRA is just better in my opinion.

From the sounds of things, ClockworkMod ROM Manager is still trying to use Fakeflash which is why you got the red triangle screen tonyyeb.

Much better off flashing a permanent recovery like AmonRA's, downloading the ROM from the internet and putting it in a folder called 000Flash (so the folder is at the top of the file list) and booting into recovery manually.

Can do this by turning the device off, turning it back on with the volume down rocker held down. When you're at the fastboot white screen, use the volume keys to select "Recovery" and tap the power button.

Also, if you're going to start messing about with ROMs, I suggest you take two minutes to setup ADB here.

Then all you have to do, to get into recovery is connect your phone to PC via USB, enable USB debugging on the phone and type:

Code:
adb reboot recovery

into a command prompt window.

Gah. Got a black Desire yesterday, and need to unlock it. Tried a £6 unlock service, but they didn't have the code for my IMEI. Now trying a £19 service but have yet to hear from the seller. Getting impatient!

rom manager does it via scripting, uses clockword to boot into recovery. amonra does it all within recovery.

No need for ADB either :) Just hold vol down+power hen turning on and choose recovery using the volume and power keys after 10 seconds.

Who's that with?

I had the same problem and the guy was a right arse and wouldn't refund me, it was the company Khaan suggested in the Android rooting guide.

Made a dispute through paypal in the end and got my money back.

I remember someone mentioning a wifi fix although I don't know if it was Oxygen or Leedroid. Did you restore your wifi settings via Titanium or something?

Also, Gingerbread Keyboard flashable zip released, I prefer it over HTC IME noow, a lot more accurate for fast typing!

Tried flashing this on my Desire with Leedroid, gets stuckin a boot loop afterwards and have to restore.

Ok, seen as you guys use it ill change. Got the link AmonRA, downloaded recovery-RA-desire-v2.0.0.img...

Now what?

This is the part where you do require adb but be sure to be S-OFF.

Volume down + power on with usb connected after putting the img file in the root of the tools folder in the android sdk folder.

Open a command promt at the tools folder and type

fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-desire-v2.0.0.img

This will flash the recovery image while the phone is in fastboot mode. Should take no time at all.
