***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

That's not true, I couldn't gold any of them on the first attempt, let alone easily. Change your attitude a little unless that comment was tongue in cheek.

What do you think? Of course it was Tongue in cheek.

Being serious though I did find these easy and got gold on all of them up to advanced so far. Only level 20 Iirc.

I found the top gear one in the Elise a right **** though, finally got gold.

It really suprises me how many people actually play (and like) B-Spec

It is frustrating, boring, longer races (I think) and the driver commands are totally useless.

I had a horrible time yesterday with the seasonal events, I did an oil change on my 500 and an engine tune on the CRZ, both times I had to sell the car at a loss and buy a new one.
I got 2nd by 7 seconds on the 500 one but I did not tune at all, the CRZ one I got 1st in one go with a stock car, I did have to block the Vitz on the straight as he was faster.

B-spec is super dull, I haven't bothered giving the dude any commands, I just give him a powerful car and let him go on his way. He rages until he gets in to first place then he sits on 100% blue for the rest of the race. Then I get bored and go back to A-spec.

If I wanted to watch someone race, poorly, I would ask my gf to drive instead of me.

It gets harder, you can't always have the best car on b-spec :)

I can gold CR z challenge first time. Got second on the fiat 500 one and couldn't win. Will struggle with it. Got a better second on the rx 7 test but feel I could have wonhad I not hit a wall last lap.

And there was me hoping to get something done today..
It's about time, I'm fed up of grinding away at the same old race, struggling to make the 4.9m for a FormulaGT car, which only shows up once a fortnight so far, but oh what's this? Hot car dealership? I like it.
As for seasonal races.. I guess I have to now do all of these races :(
I still want more (real) tracks tho.

I'm gonna try and come first in those seasonal events today. Yesterday when I tried I've gotten silver on all apart from the muscle car and the SS route 5 one. I guess it's because I was trying to be a scrooge and complete them without upgrading the cars.

:(

Upgrading is minimal at best, even an oil change can put you over the limit.
So it's kinda limited to updates that don't change bhp or weight like gears, clutch and flywheel.

I haven't done any mods so far as the two I did made the cars not eligable anymore.

The FIAT500 you can add a sports filter, and you can make it lighter by changing the windows, other than that it is just flywheel, gearbox and clutch IIRC.

I think the Fiat, Muscle Car and GTR ones need upgrades, the CRZ and RX-7 ones I think could be done comfortably with a stock car,

with the muscle car the best upgrade is the fully customisable transmission, at stock the top speed is badly limited by the 4-speed box, changing that to top out higher and you can gain ~7 seconds or so on the leader every time you go down the s/f straight :)

b-specs a pain in the hole. It's boring as hell, I usually stick it on and go away and make food or go on the phone lol. Drives me nuts on say last lap the driver spins out being clumsy and all overtake him :@.

Only one i struggled with was the Fiat one.. The others you just gotta get into the agressive driving mode and even start raming them mid corner

Yep. I also found turning off TC (if you have it on) helps as well, leaving ABS on 1.

I've won the Fiat one but can only come second in the CR-Z one so far.

Bah, never thought about turning TC off. Bet that would have been good for the half second I needed to win!

They won by a country mile. But tbf they are using a Formula GT agaisnt JGTC cars :p

Mine also recieved a pimping body kit / aero kit all round and some shinny BBS rimz  At least it looks fast :p

Close gear ratios for the GTR challenge should help as there are twists and turns on that track!

Yup, for the GTR event I dropped the top speed to 180 but I should have had it slightly higher as I was hitting the limited in the tow of other cars

For tue 500 it was all the way down at 87mph

And the classic muscle it was way up to 160 odd :)

B-Spec in GT4 was far superior. It had practical use there because you could drive a few hours of a 24 hour endurance yourself, then pit in and change to your B-Spec guy and let him do 8 hours while you slept, then change back to A-Spec. By making B-Spec completely separate it's really ruined the entire concept imo :(

I suppose it's basically just a cheap way to extend the amount of time people put into the game now.

aw man, I haven't got as far as the 24h races yet but I was really hoping it would let me share the load with b-spec drivers. Just how many hours per day can you justify spending on the playstation.. and how quickly do you get bored of driving the same car around the same track? It would bother me less if there were options to change break balance, switch ABS on and off, mess with aero or whatever. The "roadster" 4hr race was so damned boring I went for a smoke half way through with my car parked in an escape road, h-break wedged on, then did a lap in the wrong direction, just to kill time and liven it up a bit. Lap 10 was unbeatable fastest lap, despite fuel reduction. I blame backmarkers and the field spreading out. If I'd had to option to change settings in-race, that would have perked it up a bit at least.
