I didn't think it would make as much difference as it did. I found a video by complete accident on youtube after my order though, and was just like.... WTF when I saw the difference...

Nope, heaven is not CPU intensive at all.
Well people with i7's are getting higher scores than people with C2D with the same GFX cards.

Possibly, just contacted xfx to see if taking the hsf off is covered under warranty.
I ran Core Temp at the same time as Heaven, and found that core#0 was around 70-90% utilised, and the other cores between 20-70%, so it must be CPU sensitive somewhat.
Also tried another run with the Power Control set to +20, got .4fps in the min, and 1fps at the max, though I havent tested the benchmark several times so this could just be a fluctuation.
One final question, is 69C at 47% fan ok after two runs of Heaven? should I continue to overclock or leave it as it is?

69 degrees is low, but are you finding the fan annoying?
Cuda makes a difference in what may I ask?
Unless you are a scientist with a server farm or only play Just Cause 2 all day I can't think of any other potential difference you may come across.
Let's just say that I can't hear my GPU fans over my case fans at 47% haha. I think I will try 20 more mhz core and memory. Reporting back soon

In more exciting news, this guy reckons he's flashed his 6950 to a fully working 6970 with all shaders unlocked. ( they appear to have not been lasered.)
