SSD in my Mac Pro *updated with performance figures* (and video)

Thanks for that, can I just whip out the drive pop it in a USB caddie and flash that way? Rather than installing W7 on a partition

Yes, I'm pretty sure you can, as long as the OS you're running is windows.

Hi Oz

I'm debating whether its worth it or not? I'm more than happy with it's performance as it stands now... If I did update would I really notice any difference probably not.....

Means stripping the drive out again and putting it in a caddy to update, I'm getting lazy in my old age lol:)

EDIT: Put my Speck clear on last night

woohoo, my MBP just arrived. But I dont have a screwdriver small enough to take the back screws off, DOH!

Oh well.....HDD it is for a while.

Not a good start...

The 'c' key is really unresponsive, and doent usually work when typing normally, I have to press quit firmly to make it type.

I thought these Macbooks were meant to be built well :(

The results of my test:

The stock HDD is the 7200rpm 500GB by the way.

The test on the SSD was after the first clean boot (ie installed OS X, then restarted, then restarted again)

I'll do another after I install a few things on there and it settles down a bit.

Yeah, you need a T6 or someone when you're inside the machine too to take off the HDD mounts and a philips 0 screwdriver form the back of the MBP.

Yeah, it's time to send it back. :( They are built well, but no more well built any other high end laptops, faults do happen. Sorry dude, they are pretty quick at collecting though. If you say you want a replacement they usually deliver the new one and collect the old on the same day.

I just booted into my Boot Camp partition which is on my normal HDD and run the Firmware updater tool but it didn't find my SSD. Boo.

Not sure what to do with that. I've not tried it myself. Sorry.
