SSD in my Mac Pro *updated with performance figures* (and video)

I've popped my SSD into an icy box and plugged it into my windows 7 laptop, although it see's it in disk mananagement it hasn't given it a drive letter and therefor the OCZ updater cannot see it.... Looks like I may have to splat the drive so I can update firmware and then rebuild it and TM again.... grrrr

EDIT: Right installed XP as the boot camp partition this then allowed me to upgrade the firmware to 1.24 made no difference to my xbench score though lol

Did you have your SSD in your icy box still?? Did you have to format or reinstall OSX at all??

Hi mate I just had it installed in the MacBook and ran bootcamp assistant and installed XP pro on the 5gb partition, once booted into XP the first time I ran the upgrade.exe from a 8gb USB pen and flashed the drive didn't bother installing any additional drivers or anything ...

Might save up and upgrade to a 120gb drive in a few months, my machine is cool and silent now and sooooo responsive ..... It's great

Did you install XP onto your SSD?? Just booted into my Windows 7 boot camp and tried running the installer from USB drive but still cant detect my SSD. Maybe its because my Windows 7 is on my normal HDD thats installed.

Yes I have OS X as my main OS on the SSD and installed XP onto a 5gb partition on the same SSD drive and ran the upgrade tool there

I'm just flashing mine to the latest firmware. Going to Secure ATA erase if the 'sleeping' method unfreezes the SSD with ubuntu live CD, and then reinstall OSX (it's got bloated because of all the programs I installed for wireless mote development). Wish me luck. ;)

It's a joke that I have to install windows to flash my drive. My windows 7 legit copy is in my housemate's room but him and his GF are gone for christmas. So I've downloaded tiny xp, but that doesn't give you an option to format to NTFS so doesn't boot once installed. So now I'm having to download a retail disk of XP, just to format the partition so that I can swap the disks and install tiny xp.

A lot of performance. I hate windows. :(

Finally got xp installed after what seemed a near impossible task. I'm pretty sure bootcamp didn't cripple the process by formatting the partition in the past...

As for Secure ATA, my god! Good luck doing that guys when you need to restore your drive to full speed. :(
