January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

Pienaar is awesome, would like him at Arsenal. I know Wenger likes him too. I doubt it'll happen though unless Vela + another leave.

Any Blackburn fans on the boards? Confirmed you're getting Rocky Santa Cruz back on loan with a view to buy. Been an alright bit of bloody business for you he has!

Thats exactly what we need, a very very low goal scoring, midget, not very fast, winger, that would completely and massively improve Arsenal :p

I could, and couldn't quite believe Chelsea were going for him, but a very cheap backup player on lowish wages might be ok as Chelsea has so few even half decent players at the moment. I suspect talks broke down when Pienaar thought they wanted a first team player and he wanted 70k+ a week and Chelsea wanted an average backup player on 40k a week.

On Beckham, theres no way in hell he'd pay his own insurance. One of the reasons the initial try at a loan deal broke down is over the ridiculous insurance Galaxy wanted, he got injured at Milan and missed loads of Galaxy games, as they pay him a quite astonishing wage they basically lost a load of cash over loaning him out so they want huge insurance coverage to allow him to play elsewhere.

The insurance will be BIG and I doubt he'd loss money just to play a few games in the EPL for a couple weeks.

Has the fee if they buy him been confirmed, was it Cruz I saw it mentioned the fee could end up as only 4mil, in which case, thats a fantastic piece of business. Good player and given a run will probably get his form back.

Pienaar is a bit of a meh player tbh, only scored 13 goals for Everton in over 130 games not great for a creative/attacking player

I can understand why Chelsea and Tottenham were in for him because as a squad player he could do a similar job that Park does for us or as Benayoun did for Liverpool/does for Chelsea (if he weren't injured) albeit Pienaar isn't as good as either of those two (IMO)

Moyes has said two bids, rejected one and accepted the other. And a pre-contract(s) has been agreed and it'll be in the next 42 hours. So I'm guessing we'll know on Monday or after the derby, which Moyes said he thinks Pienaar will play in.

God knows who it is though because there is word coming from all over the place. Chelsea apparently was the accepted bid, but he's accepted terms from Inter and maybe Juve. Wayyyy too much going on right now.

Don't worry DM, Arsenal actually haven't been mentioned at all really. :)

No surprises at all that loads of top clubs are in for him, I predict he'll have a few fantastic years before he retires, especially if he steps up to a club with a bit more quality all over the field.

Having never really seen Pienaar play, or read anyone particularly sing his praises in the press (which is where I source all my opinions from, obviously), I'm going to naturally assume he must be rubbish and I don't see what all the fuss is about.

Him and Landon donavon last year at the emirates had the better of our full backs all game.

Sagna and Traore, I'd be worried if they couldn't, though Pienaar's goal came through the middle of the park and Arsenal played Denilson, Diaby, Traore = disaster.

Donovan is a very good player, every time I see him play, movement is good, passing is good, shooting is decent. Pienaar's I always feel has the right footballing brain, gets into the right places, the right idea's but his execution isn't particularly good.

Donovan was brilliant while at Everton, a quick check says he was player of the month in Jan when that game happened and Everton were a much better team while he was there.

From when I guess he was there, early Jan through late Feb, look at how ridiculously improved Evertons results were. How they were early last season and how generally rubbish they've been this season.

He scored against Hull in March, so he was there for at least 9 league games, of which Everton won 6 games.

Pienaar average, Donovan really very very good, I'd never consider Pienaar for Arsenal, but I'd gladly bring in Donovan

Not seen anything. Not really sure what his form is supposed to be either. Wasn't great at Bayern, plagued with injuries. Had one good debut season at Blackburn, more injuries, poor second season. Hughes for reasons only known to himself still bought him, low and behold, injured, generally poor form as a result. He's now 29, is he really going to find that one good seasons worth of form again?

David Moyes is hoping to bring in a striker on loan to replace the outgoing Yakubu.

The Nigerian joined Leicester on loan until the end of the season on Wednesday, and Moyes is keen to add another body up front to give his squad more firepower.

The Scot said: “Yak was keen to go and get some games. We got a bit of a fee for him to go which might allow us to look into the market a little bit.

“I felt at the time we had to try and find a way of moving forward. We have not scored enough goals and we need to look for other solutions.

“We’re in the market maybe for a loan replacement at the moment – that’s all we’ll be looking for.”

This is depressing!

I would have rathered Macheda had gone to Everton instead of Sampdoria tbh but he wants maximum exposure in Italy to give him a chance of the National team.

Surprised Everton weren't interested in RSC if they're looking to bring someone in on loan

I guess Adebarndoor is still available....

I heard on SSN that Blackburn have matched the wages he was on at City. Not a chance Everton could afford that.

The same reason as to why they're not likely to be interested in Adebayor either.

I wonder if he'll actually be back.

If you mean Macheda I would imagine so although I still think a season long loan at at Premiership club would be good. Macheda is still only 19 IIRC so plenty of time for him to establish himself at United even if he doesn't play for us for another season and a half
