January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

It's depressing to see Aston Villa smashing £20m+ on Bent and Arsenal in the market for Matthew Upson because his contract is nearly up, what is going on

As a Citeh fan I'm sure he was being ironical.

And everything that could've been said about Bent has been said; the pricetag is actually quite reasonable even if people don't quite seem to get it as they don't see his goals in Champions League highlights, etc.

cos you didn't give the money to oneill when you were in a better position

now you are paying over the odds for a player who is a good goalscorer, but isn't worth up to 24 million pounds...and if this was the summer window, you wouldn't contemplate paying that much for

this

It is an odd one.

It remains to be seen if he could perform at Champions League level, again making the fee seem a little high. When he made the step up to international football he didn't really impress, there's a question about how much he could add to a Champions League level side, there are quite big parts of his game which aren't up to that level (his passing and hold up play aren't the best)

According to the guardian chelsea are gonna make another improved bid for David Luiz. Haven't seen much of him play but he seems to be highly rated and we certainly could do with a young defender.

Looks like ivanovic is gonna sign a new contract too. :)

I'm happy with the signing of Bent, look forward to seeing him in action. Also looking forward to seeing what Makoun is all about.

I'm even more amused at the Sunderland fans suddenly telling the world he's crap. He was god in shorts two days ago - now he's crap and they're glad to see the back of him. L+O+L

Darren Bent is one of the poorest footballers I've seen in a Spurs shirt and that's saying something. He can't head, he's got no heart, no fight, he can't hold the ball up or ride tackles, he adds nothing to a team but... he does score goals.

This might interest a few of the QPR fans on here:

Benni McCarthy is on a trial with QPR. He played a behind closed doors game against Spurs and scored today, Keane, Woodgate and O'hara also played in that game.

Looks a cert considering the Mackie injury.

Bent's scored loads for us sure, but he's a poor all round footballer. He can't play in a front 2 at all. Not sure about other Sunderland fans, but the crowd I go drinking with all agreed a few weeks ago that they wouldn't be bothered if he went.

They'd rather have Welbeck and Gyan as they're both much better players, and Sunderland as a team, played better when Bent was injured. I wouldn't be surprised if even Brucey wanted shot of him.

Not to sound dumb but why has Bent gone to Villa. Sunderland have a much better set up then Villa, and I can't see Villa finshing ahead of Sunderland. Has he given a reason for his move ?

Rumours of that Alex Chamberlain to Fulham again.

The Gunners have agreed a £5m cash payment up front for the 17-year-old plus another £5m of add-ons but the deal has suffered a hitch because of Arsenal’s refusal to allow him to go back on loan to St Mary’s Stadium for the rest of the season.

“Chelsea and Fulham are in the chase, while Manchester City are keen but he is not going to go there. He wants to play regularly, which is why Fulham is increasingly attractive.”

Very doubtful though :p

Lol, or because he won't get a game at Chelski or Citeh... and his first team chances will be more limited at Arsenal. Arsenal would play him sometimes, and he'd get amazing coaching, etc... but he'd get the most football at Fulham.

Be very doubtful if we even outlay that amount of money for him, that's just below our record signing!

Plus in fairly dire need of a striker this window.

Agreed.

However, interestingly I read that in the last 5 years he is 2nd only to Drogba and Rooney (82 goals) in Premier League goals scored with 81.

just like pav and crouch but without the scoring goals bit!

Its very much true, and also ridiculous that some people simply want a complete footaller in every single position on the pitch, its laughable.

What you want in a striker, is someone who puts the ball in the net, likewise at Spurs he was ignored for a season, and the second season Redknapp publically mocked him several times, while relying on his goals. Its shocking he wasn't on his best form possible.

Yet Crouch is actually the worst footballer Spurs have at the moment, the difference between him and Crouch is, errm, Bent scores.

Some people want two Rooney's at a club, but what happens when they both consistantly drop deep, who do they knock the ball on to, to get the goals.
Every player just about has missed a chance thats made you want to risk a lifetime ban by running on the pitch and slapping said player in the face, most have also scored a goal that have made you want to risk a lifetime ban by running on the pitch and celebrating with him, its called football.

Crouch missed more easy chances against Utd than Bent did his whole time at Spurs, infact he does that most games.
