January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

PS as a spurs fan I absolutely hate city. just had to make that point known. Feel they are a 1 trick pony club, tevez gets injured we will see just how far they have come

He spent a fair bit yes, but i find it strange that the chairmen goes from apparently not backing a manager financially to £18m in a few months?

but then as always im sure we dont know the full picture, id love to see villa go down :D

I bet O'Neil is ****ed off! 6th spot 3 years running and hardly a penny, GH puts villa in the bottom 3 and gets 18mill, genius.
O'Neill kicked off because his players kept getting sold from under him. If he'd had control of transfers, he'd have never had £24m to spend on Bent, because he'd have never cashed in on the money Man City were offering to ***** on Barry and Milner.

Not quite sure it was like that. O'Neill was very clear regarding Milner and Barry's transfers; once they made it clear they wanted to leave, he wasn't stopping them as long as Villa got a suitable offer.

O'Neill's issue was that he wanted the backing to be able to build Villa into a side where by his best players weren't wanting to leave when another club came in for them. Once it became clear that Lerner wasn't able or willing to back him to that extent he knew he couldn't take Villa any further.

Houllier's not being backed any more than O'Neill was. Houllier's just spending the Milner money, just like I'm sure O'Neill would have had it to spend had he stayed.

I think that's the key, even with an owner like that there just wasn't enough cash to take Villa further. Back then, even now, the best that he and Villa could have hoped for is sixth spot.

It's the infamous Moyes/Everton syndrome, you need serious and regular cash-injections to break into the (now defunct) top four from fourth or fifth.

Aye particularly with a second sugar daddy owner coming into play (City). Spurs did it with lot of cash but also thanks in part because Liverpool were poor last season.

Was a good interview by Werner , said all the right things and sounded all very positive and promising. Now to splash the cash sensibly on sensible targets. I can foresee a little flurry on the last day or two of the transfer window.

I cant unfortunately, if rumours are true about us refusing to pay stupid money for an unhappy player it's nice to see NESV aren't as thick as rick parry

I can, it doesnt have to be stupid money to be a flurry. I can easily foresee us signing a couple of players in the dying days of the transfer window. Wouldnt surprise me at all if we signed a midfielder and a defender on the last day of the window.

Apparently Arsené Wenger is keeping a close eye on the Robbie Keane situation incase he goes to Aston Villa. He states a forward line that is Young, Bent and Keane would be of interest to him.

I don't get it, because he thinks they'd be good or because he wants to buy them?

I only ask since the phrase 'be of interest to him' seems odd if he just thinks they won't suck.
